Bruce Mwape rings changes as he names team to face Crested Cranes

Copper Queens boss Bruce Mwape has made seven changes to the team that thrashed Phoenix Marrakech FC 6-0.

Mwape has only maintained four players from that team in Agness Musesa, Martha Tembo, Ochumba Oseke Lubanji and Misozi Zulu.

Midfield magician Evarine Susan Katongo teams up with Irene Lungu in the middle of the park while Lushomo Mweemba returns to partner Musesa in defense as Margaret Belemu takes up his place at right back.

Ochumba Oseke Lubanji leads the attack alongside Grace Chanda while Misozi and Siomala Mapepa take up the right and left wings.

Teenager Fauzia Najjemba leads the attack for the Uganda Crested Cranes.

This is the Queens final friendly match having drawn 1-1 with the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco and then thrashing Phoenix Marrakech FC 6-0.

The two teams are using this friendly as part of their preparation for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Copper Queens start their campaign against Cameroon at the Mohammed V stadium on July 3 before facing North Africans Tunisia three days later. They will wrap up their Group B engagement with a tie against debutants Togo on 9 July.

The semi-finalists from this tournament will automatically earn their tickets to next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand while the two quarter-finalists will have to battle it out in the inter-continental play-offs for a spot in the world’s biggest showpiece.
