Bruce Mwape names 24 member squad to face South Korea

Coach Bruce Mwape has named his final 24 member squad to face South Korea in two international friendly matches on 7th and 11th April.

Mwape has named a combination of 9 foreign based players and 15 local players for the assignment.

Skipper Barbra Banda leads the foreign based contingent alongside Spanish based foursome of Rachel Kundananji, Grace Chanda, Rachel Nachula and Helen Mubanga.

Others are Turkey based goal minder Hazel Nali, and BIIK Kazygurt trio of defender  Martha Tembo, striker Hellen Chanda and midfielder Ireen Lungu.

ZISD Women striker Inonge Kaloustian has made the cut on her first national team callup.

However, the coach will miss the services of defenders Lushomo Mweemba and Esther Banda due to injury. Another defender Margaret Belemu has been excused in order for her to complete her switch from Hakkarigucu Spur in Turkey to Chinese Women’s Super League side Shanghai Shengli.

WAFCON bronze medalist Avell Chitundu and Green Buffaloes Women’s Football club striker Maylan Mulenga have surprisingly missed out.

The South Korea assignment will be used as a test of the Copper Queen’s readiness for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand in July.
