Bruce Mwape happy with performance despite lossĀ

Copper Queens boss Bruce Mwape says he is happy with his team’s performance despite their 3-2 loss to the Republic of Ireland.

Mwape said the team was disciplined and had a very good game against a fellow FIFA Women’s World Cup bound side.

Mwape believes the team has improved in terms of coordination upfront but feels there is still room for improvement as the teams ahead may even be more tactical.

“Today I think we played a very good game, very disciplined. We started on a good run and the player never changed the rhythm until we conceded that penalty. All in all today we have played a good game,” Bruce Mwape said in a post match interview.

“On coordination I think we have improved but we still need to improve more because we will be facing very tactical teams going forward so we need to stick to our plans.”

“The atmosphere was excellent, it was like we were playing our first game at the World Cup. It was good to see some Zambian fans also which helped  the players, it was amazing,I’m happy.

“To our fans, they just have to support the team going forward. We will do better than we did today (Thursday),” he added.

Amber Barrett was the hero as she came off the bench to score a brace and help Ireland overturn a 1-0 half-time deficit.

Claire O’Riordan scored the other goals for Ireland while Zambia’s goals came courtesy of a Courteney Brosnan own goal and Rachel Kundananji.

The team leaves Dublin for Germany at 08h00 to continue with their International camp.

The Copper Queens next friendly match will be against Switzerland on 30 June before facing Germany on 7th of July.

  1. Okay I agree the Coach knows better, but just the piece of advice hopefully it will be heard to him,
Quiet well in coach views the team played well, but according to my perspective there’s more rooms to be worked on.
firstly look at upfront I’m sorry to say this it was totally disorganized, one thing team Zambia should be aware of including the technical bench is that we’re a big team and where we are heading they don’t underate any team
second our midfield, why is this girls not paying attention to be moving together and why do the coach not reminding them.of course he is doing everything but know that time is not there coz this problem of playing like this was still there by the time we were playing last friendly matches,
So make sure the coach looks on watch and see where they are going.
Third now all players must be shape if they have a ball to their foot they should be opening up and be at the right position to receive the ball
