Bruce Mwape did a lot great work for the team as Copper Queens pay tribute to the late coach

The Copper Queens paid tribute to the late Bruce Mwape on Tuesday night in Morocco during a Wafcon Group C tie against Egypt.

It a moving gesture, the Copper Queens hosted the famous Copper jersey with the Mwape’s face on it during team photo before kickoff.

The gesture was repeated in the 25th minute as the team celebrated Racheal Nachula’s goal.

Zambia Womens coach Nora Hauptle was quick to pay tribute to her predecessor.

“The tribute after the first goal was for coach Bruce Mwape, and we remain united as a team while remembering the great work he did for us,” she said

Zambia went on to beat Egypt 6-0.

Mwape took women football to greater heights.

He is arguably most successful Copper Queens coach having guided the team to back to back Olympics as well a FIFA Womens World Cup.

Under his tutelage, the Copper Queens also featured three times at the Womens AFCON.

He died early this month in Chingola.
