Brentford line up Daka as Toney replacement

Brentford are looking to Patson Daka as a possible replacement for Ivan Toney

Bournemouth have not given up on signing Leicester City’s want-away striker after having a loan deal refused in the summer.

The Cherries are keen on the striker if the England international was to leave in January. Meanwhile, sources have informed us that Saudi Pro League clubs are also getting encouragement in certain quarters that a deal can be done.

Daka is looking certain to leave the Foxes in the upcoming January window due to his lack of game-time at Leicester, having just played 26 minutes of action this campaign for the Midlands club. Daka has a €7 million (£6m) release clause written into his contract for former club RB Salzburg, and it will come into effect the next time he plays.

However, Leicester’s valuation of the player is around €29m ahead of the winter transfer window. Daka has spent two full seasons with Leicester, appearing 74 games and netting 15 goals.

Indeed, over the summer, Bournemouth’s proposed loan move for the Zambia striker collapsed, even though

they allowed Wales striker Kieffer Moore to join Millwall at the time.

Daka looks set for Leicester exit

The 24-year-old joined Leicester in 2021 for €30m from RB Salzburg but has struggled for form and the past couple of campaigns.

He was brought into the fold for Leicester as a measure to provide competition up front for attackers Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy.

Daka scored 27 goals in just 28 league games in the Austrian Bundesliga in his final season where he won the accolade of being the top scorer and won player of the season.

Daka, who has strained relations with Foxes manager Enzo Mareska, is also admired by AC Milan, who are willing to pay €17.5m.
