Konkola Blades refute standoff claims

The MTN Super League side Konkola Blades have refuted claims that their week 13 encounter against Red Arrows was threatened by a standoff between Konkola Blades players and the management.

The club dismissed the reports of a standoff between the players and management as ‘false and misleading’ in a statement posted on their official Facebook page.

“Konkola Blades Football Club (KBFC) wishes to firmly dismiss the false and misleading reports circulating on social media suggesting that our players have not been paid for three months and that they have boycotted training.

These claims are entirely unfounded and do not reflect the situation on the ground. The team is training normally in preparation for the next fixtures.”

According to a statement by the club the players salaries are up-to-date and they are not owed anything.

“The club confirms that salaries for players, and technical staff, as well as other obligations are currently up to date following the full support of the consistent provision of the Monthly Grants and all the Winning Bonuses by the sponsor, Konkola Copper Mines Plc.”

Konkola Blades will host in-form Red Arrows, the only team yet to suffer defeat this season tomorrow at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.

Sharp Razor are currently 9th on the MTN Super League log table with 16 points after 12 matches.
