Bazo returns as Chambeshi names local squad for World Cup qualifiers

Nkana forward Alex Ng’onga has returned to the national team set up after an absence of close to four years.

Ng’onga who last appeared for the Copper Bullets back in January 2018 during the 2018 African Nations Championship held in Morocco is part of the 20-member local squad summoned by Coach Beston Chambeshi to kickstart preparations for the November 13 Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mauritania and Tunisia four days later.

Chambeshi has also handed Nkwazi goalminder Charles Muntanga a call-up together with Green Buffaloes defender Jack Ngulube. NAPSA Stars defender Luka Banda has also been recalled to the national team set up.

The regulars in Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, Moses Phiri, Dominic Chanda, Dickson Chapa, and Gregory Sanjase have all made the cut.

Super League top goalscorer Friday Samu and Kabwe Warriors midfielder Prince Mumba who was involved in the two goals scored in Mauritania has all been left out of the team.

Foreign-based players will be expected to join in the final stanza of preparation for the Mauritania and Tunisia clashes.

Zambia will host Mauritania at National Heroes Stadium on November 13 before facing Tunisia three days later in Tunis to conclude the Group B qualifiers that will see the table-toppers qualifying to the final round.

  3. Btw those who were telling me they are not enough foreign players who can fill all positions they’re some more foreign players who have been left out from the list that i blieve should be looking like .

    Kambole,muwowo,Bradley mweene,k.kalunga,chanka zimba,ntazana mayembe,guus till,m.musonda,n.sinkala,kalaba,g.lungu,i mwanza,j.mulenga(a player who left national team after kamanga), n thr r other many more…

Faz administration are too lazy to look for these players contact the clubs n call abt performance they only c players like kemuka who 4 the past 2 yrs despite featuring for national team failed to impress any foreign club

  4. @boy, why call Kabaso Chongo??? He is yet to put up a good performance in the Chipolopolo shirt. Last time he played well for Zambia was when we lost 3-0 to Brazil

  5. FAZ should be advertising the coaching job right now or at least be in discussions with government. What kind of association has not had one coach complete a qualification series? It’s always lose 1 qualifier then bring in a foreign coach. Chambeshi will be the first to complete a qualifications schedule…this FAZ is a disaster

  6. One step forward three steps back. Chambeshi is lost and needs help. Ng,’onga does not have what it takes to don’t the chipolopolo jersey. Be that as it may BC can even have Rinaldo or Sergio Mane but will still fail. Reason is how to use his tools. Chipolopolo players cannot play slow build up which needs a high IQ. Quick running football with little time on the ball would be best for chipolopolo. Slow football is for seriously advanced players. None are found in Zambia!

  7. @positive thinking he ws playing at rb thats y he performed well n many games after whilst at rb he hs performd well it is when he is put as cb he fluffs coz he is a natural rb n plays same position at club as well

  8. Honestly, Chipolopolo technical team is insulting our intelligence. Only a person who is mentally disabled would come up with such selection of players

  9. Bazo call up v.good gamble. The guy is in better shape, and metally stable as more mature than his younger years in football.

I have no doubts-he wilk do better than most regular chipolopolo call ups.

  10. Bazo call up v.good gamble. The guy is in better shape, metally stable and more mature than his younger years in football.

I have no doubts-he will do better than most regular chipolopolo call ups.

  11. I hope he brings back the big boys Sunzu and Sinkala. Lameck Banda has done fine in Israeli league so far and the Kangwa boys must definitely make the cut with their recent form. The guys in Sweden must definitely return too. Nsabata deserves a call up aswell.

  12. The moment the 2017 u20 mens team was thrown away, thats when zambia’s football team dream died. This time around that team would have been moulded into a very tough and formidable squad.

Now see what is happenning. Coaches are just picking players from garbage pit.
