Barbra Banda’s substitution explained 

Copper Queens skipper Barbra Banda was substituted halfway through Orlando Pride’s 1-1 draw with San Diego Wave much to the displeasure of Zambian fans. 

However Banda’s substitution was something Pride boss Seb Hines had to enforce the ZamFoot Crew has learned. 

Banda was withdrawn at the start of the second half and replaced with Brazilian icon Marta who was making her historical 100th regular season appearance as a member of the Pride in the game, the first player to reach the feat with the Club.

The Copper Queens star was withdrawn as a precaution having come off a knock, the ZamFoot Crew understands. 

The move to rest Banda at the start of the second half was done in consultation with the medical team to avoid risking a long term injury. 

Banda suffered a knock in the 2-1 win over Portland Thorns and was stretched off towards the end of the first half and replaced by Ally Watt at the second of the second half. 

Banda and the Pride are back in action in the early hours of Sunday as they face the North Carolina Courage.

Banda has 11 goal contributions so far this season (8 goals and 3 assists ) in her eight appearances.
