Barbra Banda wins golden boot in her first season in China

Copper Queens skipper Barbra Banda has emerged as the top goalscorer of the 2020 China Taiping CFA Women’s League in her first season.

Banda scored the opening goal on Sunday as Shanghai Shengli beat Beijing BG Phoenix 3-1 in their third and fourth place playoff to win bronze.

The goal was the former Bauleni United Sports Academy forward’s 18th of the season to seal the golden boot for her. Banda netted 12 goals in the first round which saw her play 9 games and 6 goals in the second round where she played four games.

Malawi Women’s national team striker Temwa Chawinga is the runner up in the title group with 9 goals while Argentine Sole Jaimes is the leader in the relegation group with 14 goals.

Banda and Jaimes were tied on 12 after the first round. The Zambian netted six in four games while Jaimes only managed two in five games to help her Changchun Dazhong to finish fifth.
