Barbra Banda scores in Orlando Pride dramatic comeback win

Copper Queens skipper Barbra Banda scored  the equalizer as Orlando Pride came from two goals down to beat Angel City 3-2 at the Inter and Co Stadium.

Banda started the match alongside compatriot Prisca Chilufya who was making first start for the Pride since joining the club.

It was an inauspicious start to the match for the Pride, allowing the opening goal just nine minutes in, Riley Tiernan with a low shot beating Ana Morehouse at the near post.

Katie Zelem doubled the lead just before halftime with a powerful strike after the Pride failed to deal with a corner kick.

The Pride however turned it around in the second half with Brazilian legend Marta starting off the comeback netting a quick volley off the cross from Oihane to give confidence to the entire team as they pushed for an equalizer.

It only took a few minutes for the Pride to find the equalizer, and of course, Barbra Banda delivered. A perfect cross from Pickett was flicked on by Banda’s head, glancing off the post and in. In the span of just four minutes, the game completely flipped on its head, 2-2.

The Pride then took over completely and came close twice with Oihane and Ally Watt both failing to find the back of the net with only the keeper to beat.

Carson Pickett was at it again in additional time as her brilliant ball into the box took an awkward bounce heading towards goal, where Ally Watt was waiting. Trying to get in front of Watt, M.A. Vignola chested the ball up and past Angelina Anderson, putting the Pride in the lead for the first time in the third minute of stoppage time.

Grace Chanda came off the bench to replace Angelina in the 72nd minute to mark her second appearance for the Seb Hines coached side.

Banda has now scored four goals and set up one while Chilufya has played in the six matches this season.

Next up for the  Pride is a trip to face the Portland Thorns out in Oregon. The match will kick off on Saturday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. ET  (Sunday, 01:30 CAT) from Providence Park.
