Copper Queens skipper Barbra Banda scored a 90th minute winner as Shanghai Shengli beat Shaanxi Changan 2-1 in their opening match of the 2023 China Taiping CFA Women’s League.
Yingshuang Ma put Shengli in the lead in the 42nd minute but Yuwei leveled matters for Shaanxi in the 70th minute.
With the match seemingly headed for a draw, Banda pulled out her usual, magic scoring at the death to seal a 2-1 win.
Banda will be hoping to help the team to the title this season and probably fight for the top goalscorers award.
The former Green Buffaloes and Bauleni United Sports Academy forward scored 18 goals to win the golden boot in her first season in China back in 2020.
The win also signifies a good start for new Shanghai Shengli boss Asako Takakura who was appointed just 3 months ago.
