The Inaugural Barbra Banda Foundation and BUSA Women’s Challenge Cup group stage will conclude on Sunday, 7th February 2021 with four mouth-watering encounters.
In Group A, Luyando Foundation will be looking to seal their qualification to the semifinals with a win over Pataaki. With a loss and a draw to their name, Pataaki needs maximum to stand a chance to progress.
Coach Bernard Mwape Chisenga will bank on the brilliance of star midfielder Evarine Susan Katongo, Winger Elesy Chilandula, midfielders Matilda Zulu and Precious ‘Senior’ Phiri.
Coach Patrick on the other hand has quite a talented youthful squad. In midfield, Pauline Lungu, Josephine Phiri, and Inonge ‘De Bruyne’ Muyamwa are expected to make a strong partnership with Pauline Phiri, Blessing Zulu, and Jessy Phiri leading the line.
This is a match that promises a lot of sparks with the free-flowing football expected to dominate this encounter.
In the second match at Crested Crane Academy, Nkwazi will be hoping to put their shock 1-0 loss to Luyando Foundation behind them as they face Group leaders All-Stars.
Dorothy Daka and Precious Nsama are expected to lead the Police sponsored outfit’s quest for maximum points while All-Stars have the likes of Shelly Masumo and Joyce Mwaba within their ranks.
At New Bauleni community Stadium, Favorites, Green Buffaloes who thrashed Lusaka Dynamos this morning will play two matches, first facing struggling YASA before battling it out with rejuvenated Bauleni United Sports Academy.
YASA Queens will be hoping to pull off an impressive performance to beat favorites Green Buffaloes and remain in the race for a place in the semifinals.
With the likes of Michelle Abueng, Thanda Mokgabo, Mellisa Mutaba, Eva, and Florence Kasonde, The team from Jarmy have a fighting chance and can hurt Buffaloes but they have to be wary of young Margaret Chisenga and Irene ‘Xavi’ Lungu who will most likely pose a threat.
Coach Kaluba Kangwa and his star-studded BUSA will provide a good challenge for the Army Women.
The lethal Regina Chanda, the pacey Jackeline Nambeya, and the amazing Cindy Banda are expected to lead the attack with Maweta Gloria Chilenga in support.
At the back, Margaret Taonga Chulu, Martha Katila Phiri, and Constance Kamusu together with Memory will make a strong back four.
With a lot of permutations, Anything is possible and these matches are expected to be tightly contested.
