Banda and Kundananji back in action back in action in NWSL

Zambian Women’s Football flag carriers, Barbra Banda and Rachel Kundananji will return to league action in the USA National Women’s Soccer League in the early hours of Saturday.

Barbra Banda and Orlando Pride will resume their NWSL regular season play in the early hours of Saturday.

The Pride will visit Shell Energy Stadium to take on the Houston Dash for the first time this season.

The two sides split both matches last season with the home side winning on each occasion. Orlando’s last win at Houston came in 2017 in a 4-2 victory.

The Pride are the last remaining unbeaten team in the NWSL, currently riding a 16-match regular-season unbeaten streak, tied with Seattle for longest single-season unbeaten streak in NWSL history.

Dating back to last season, the Pride are currently unbeaten in 20 straight matches across all competitions.

The NWSL Golden Boot race is also heating up and Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda is in prime position to take the award.

In only 12 matches this season, Banda has scored 12 goals and is tied with Kansas City Current forward Temwa Chawinga for most goals scored in the league.

Meanwhile at 03:30 Central African Time, Rachel Kundananji and Bay FC take on the Utah Royals.

While Orlando Pride have been flying, it’s been mixed results for Bay FC who have suffered several defeats already this season.

Kundananji and co suffered a 3-0 bashing by Washington Spirit in their last NWSL regular season match before the break.

With a place in the play offs at stake as they sit in eighth place with three teams breathing heavily on their necks they will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Kundananji and six time CAF Women’s player of the year Asisat Oshoala are expected to lead the attack.
