Back to the Super League after AFCON elimination

Following the Chipolopolo Boys early exit at the 2023 AFCON, a number of Super League teams have already returned to training in readiness for the resumption of the league.

The MTN Super League went on recess at the start of  the 34th edition of the continent’s flagship tournament, the Africa Cup of Nations.

With Chipolopolo out of the tournament teams will be back at their training grounds preparing to continue the hunt for silverware.

The mid-season recess is set to run from January 15th, 2024, to February 12th, 2024 but it’s not clear if it will be cut short after the Chipolopolo Boys’ failure to go beyond the group stage.

Zambia finished third in group F with just two points after three matches and subsequently eliminated from the competition.

The league went into recess in week 20 with ZESCO United leading the log table with 39 points just a point above Red Arrows in second place.

Defending Champions, Power Dynamos and Green Eagles complete the top four.

Winless Trident FC, Prison Leopards, Nkana and NAPSA Stars make up the bottom four teams.
