Atletico Lusaka Appoints Simon Kangwa as New Head Coach

National League side Atletico Lusaka Football Club has announced the appointment of Simon Kangwa as the new head coach of the senior men’s team.

Kangwa, who has been with the club since its inception, takes over from Brian Kunsanama, who recently left the club to join Aguila Stars.

Kangwa’s Credentials

Kangwa’s promotion to head coach comes as no surprise, given his extensive knowledge of the club’s principles and philosophy. He has been an integral part of the club, serving as the goalkeeper coach during the past season. 

Currently, Kangwa is in Morocco with the Copper Queens as a goalkeeper coach for the upcoming TotalEnergies Morocco 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.

Club Statement

According to a statement released by the club, “Simon possesses extensive knowledge of Atletico’s principles and philosophy, and his personal values align closely with those of the club.” 

The statement further noted that Miguel Martinez Latorre, the Technical Director, will continue to work with Kangwa as head coach, with the aim of continued development and enhancement of Zambian players and Zambian football.

A New Chapter

Kangwa’s appointment marks a new chapter for Atletico Lusaka, and fans will be eager to see how he will lead the team in the upcoming season in the post Brian Kunsanama era. 

With his experience and knowledge of the club, Kangwa is well-positioned to drive the team forward and achieve success.

Atletico Lusaka is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Kangwa as the new Head Coach of the Senior Men’s Team.

Simon has been with the club since its inception, and his growth, both personally and technically, has been commendable; during the past season, he served as the goalkeeper coach and is currently part of the Copper Queens technical bench. 

Simon possesses extensive knowledge of Atletico’s principles and philosophy and his personal values align closely with those of the club. 

Miguel Martinez Latorre, the Technical Director will continue to work with Simon as Head Coach with the aim of the  continued development and enhancement of Zambian players and Zambian football.
