The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Appeals Committee has upheld the sanctions handed to Green Buffaloes by the Disciplinary Committee.
The Appeals Committee has however reduced the fine from K150,000 to K100, 000.
FAZ confirmed the development in a statement by Communications Manager Sydney Mungala availed to the ZamFoot Crew.
“The Appeals Committee has upheld the sanctions handed to Green Buffaloes Football Club by the FAZ Disciplinary Committee over the club’s role in the confusion that erupted during the Week 11 MTN Super League tie at Arthur Davies Stadium against Power Dynamos.
However, the Appeals Committee has reduced the fine from K150, 000 to K100, 000 in conformity with precedence set in earlier matters.”
Power Dynamos Football Club filed a complaint before the FAZ Disciplinary Committee against Green Buffaloes Football Club fans that beat up the former’s supporters on November 5, 2022, in a Week 11 fixture at Arthur Davies Stadium.
The Disciplinary Committee found Green Buffaloes Football Club guilty, but the army sponsored outfit appealed the decision.
“The committee dismissed the first ground of appeal because there was adequate security at the stadium and in fact after the situation was contained, the game continued to its natural conclusion without any further incident,” reads part of the verdict.
“On ground three, the committee was of the view that the decision to fine the appellant by the Disciplinary Committee must be upheld. The Disciplinary Committee was on firm ground and having considered the precedent set in previous cases involving crowd disturbance and use of projectiles by fans and charges meted out, the committee reduces the fine to K100, 000 as the appellant is a second offender.”
This was the second time Green Buffaloes were reported to have done this having pulled the same stunt on November 7, 2021, at Nkana Stadium during another league match.
