Ankle Sprain knocks Spencer Sautu out of Mozambique tie

ZESCO United winger Spencer Sautu will miss Sunday’s Algeria 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Mozambique.

The Prince of Choma suffered an injury during Sunday’s COSAFA Cup 2022 triumph against Namibia.

Chipolopolo team doctor George Phiri has confirmed that Sautu will miss the match due to an ankle sprain.

Dr. Phiri says everyone else is fine and does not expect any new casualties ahead of the first leg on Sunday.

“Currently we are having a good bill of health and almost all the players are fit for election except Spencer Sautu who suffered an ankle sprain and we treating him and he will not be available. The rest of the players are doing fine,” Dr. Phiri said.

Zambia will be away to Mozambique on Sunday before hosting the mambas on July 30 in the reverse fixture.

Winner over two legs will face Malawi in the final qualifying round.

The 7the edition of the African Nations Championship will be held in Algeria between 8th and 31st January 2023.
