Analyzing Coach Micho’s 26 man Squad to face Botswana in the DO or DIE back to back encounters.

Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredovic’s Zambia squad includes some so-called inexperienced players for the upcoming-important back to back 2021 Cameroon AFCON qualifiers against Botswana.

Power Dynamos duo of Zachariah Chilongoshi and Kondwani Chiboni were rewarded for their fine form throughout last season and in the October friendlies while Jackson Kakunta’s improvement under Micho didn’t go unnoticed. Allan Chibwe, playing his way into the Green Eagles team was also rightly acknowledged.

There has been some suggestion the quartet have only been included because they are all currently the flavour of the month and while that can sometimes be the case, that’s not what has happened in this instance.

Goalkeepers

Coach Micho looks to have found his first-choice goalkeeper for the Zambia national team, it’s not surprising that the man to man Chipolopolo’sgoalpostss is no other than the 2019 Cosafa winning goalkeeper Sebastian Mwange.

The Serbian wolf will look to have Allan Chibwe, Jackson Kakunt, and Lameck Siame ready to fillMwenge’ss gloves in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.

Defenders

Zachariah Chilongoshi is slowly making the Left back position his holder, the former Kabwe Warriors defender is a marvel to watch but will need to watch his back whenever he overlaps.

In the central defense, we wait to see who will partner Tp Mazembe defender Tandi Mwape, Luka Banda is looking like the most likely partner though Benson Sakala might also have a strong say on who starts.

Lubambo Musonda is the most likely to start in the right-back position like he did in the Kenya and South Africa games. Micho may also start Kondwani Chiboni in that position and look to play Lubambo in an advanced role.

Midfielders

Chipolopolo gaffer will have a headache on who starts in this department, with Redbull Salzburg midfield general back in the squad and most likely to captain the squad when the team takes on Botswana. The former Napsa stars player will with no doubt be in the starting lineup.

Sensational Zanaco anchorman Kelvin Kapumbu also looks set to start in the holding role where he will need to be at his best and shield the back four.

Klings Kangwa and Augustine Mulenga might start on the flanks for coach Micho’s team come Thursday at the Heroes Stadium.

Strikers

Justin Shonga is back in the squad and will be reuniting with his former coach at Orlando Pirates, but he is not likely to start as Coach Micho might look to start Fashion Sakala and Evans Kangwa to get the all-important goals for Zambia.

Kelvin Kampamba might again be introduced from the bench as he has looked more effective coming from the bench in the last games for Zambia.

The outcry from the fans is on the exclusion of several players like Clatous Chota Chama, Nathan Sinkala, Cyril Mwenya Chibwe, Rally Bwalya, Obbrey Chirwa, and Mwape Musonda but the coach must have his reason,s and then again not everyone can make it to the final team as numbers are limited but the talent in Zambia is limitless.

  1. The coach has the last say in the selection of the team. The fans have raised
eyebrows in the selection of the team. One hopes the coach is right We will not regret for leaving out proven goal poachers like Mwape Musonda and play makers like Triple C.Defence kingpin Kabaso Chongo.Otherwise We just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.Good luck Chipolopolo.

  2. I am humbly watching with keen interest, for me I will not heap praise onto the Coach before we see vivid results. Now is the time to assess the Micho favorably. If he can, However, defeat Algeria I will have a gleamer of hope because WADA did it and to me WADA still hold a solid stance over Micho, I don’t care what the pundits on this blog think.

  3. Coach Micho is an experimenter. We do not want experiments. We need Mweene, Kabaso Chongo, Nathan Sinkala, Cletus Chama and other renoun players. Mwange is a joke he can not match with Mweene. Look at the way Mweene handled the last games for Sundowns before their league ended. excellent goal keeping.

  4. First of all well done to Micho and the boys
We don’t need to depend on players just because of how big there names are while they don’t perform
We need fresh squard that we can depend on
