Chipolopolo midfielder Enock Mwepu has arrived on time for the 2021 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nation back-to-back qualifiers against Botswana. Zambia is aiming two wins against the Zebras to reviving the hopes of playing at the Africa Cup of Nations after missing out on the last two editions.
Mwepu and the other Red Bull Salzburg player were told that they will not travel to their respective countries after the club had claimed that some player tested positive of COVID-19 and hence the whole team was supposed to be quarantined.
But a day later the Austrian club changed their stance and wrote, “We will pull out all the stops as soon as possible to end the team quarantine and allow all team players to travel to their national teams immediately. We hope that the travel ban imposed by the authorities will be lifted quickly.”
The ever joyful Mwepu who was speaking to the football association media team said on his arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda international airport, “first of all, am happy that I have traveled safely thank God and am motivated and looking forward for tomorrow’s game.”
“For me am a positive guy, I had hope that the club will change their minds and at the end it happened, I didn’t unpack my bag and I was already like any time I will start off. Am here ready for the game tomorrow.” He said
When he was asked what it means to represent Zambia, Mwepu said, “it means everything, am proud to represent Zambia at this level and am really motivated looking at what I have achieved so far at club level and going into tomorrow’s game we know we have lost points in the previous two games and tomorrow’s is a must win game, I just pray we give our very best and play according to what Micho wants I think we will win the game.
Enock Mwepu has been a key player for Red Bull Salzburg playing 13 games this season including 5 appearances in the UEFA Champions League and he has scored 2 goals in all competitions. His presence for the national team will lift the mood and that will give coach Milutin Sredojevic headache as who will partner Mwepu in midfield.
Its all system go.Talk is cheap.Lets wait and see what happens tomorrow. Will Zambia claim its leadership in southern Africa by beating Botswana home and away, beating the brave Warriors of Zimbabwe and beating the desert Foxes of Algeria in Lusaka ? In the process picking a ticket to Cameroon Afcon 2021?
Zambia will win tomorrow’s game.
Thank God Mwepu Enock is in. My humble plea to you Mr Mwepu. May you please advise Fashion not to hold on so much to the ball as if he is alone in the field of play. Let him pass the ball early so that we win this game.
Fashion is a good player. He can be one of the greatest only if he learns to pass the ball like he did at under 20 level.
Let him be a team player for the seek of mother Zambia.
Exactly Frank talking is cheap let’s wait and see what happens tomorrow also on Monday. The African style of play is different from the European and that’s why most of the African stars fail to tick in their various national teams. So let the results talk and then one can their cheap talk. If it wasn’t for covid come Monday I could be in the stadium but alas it I won’t.
The safe arrival of Enock Mwepu in Zambia today is absolutely spectacular news! This young man consistently holds his own against some of the very best club sides in the world, and will bring much-needed stability and leadership and confidence to Chipolopolo as they face Botswana. I can’t wait for tomorrow’s match!
Go Zambia Goal, you can do it.
Zambia 2, Botswana 0
Happy you have travel well ……bigup for tomorrow…….zambian let’s talk to coach micho to add these old players please….kalaba, nathan nsunzu mbola ……these players ar still fit.
This is what we term as commitment. The Good thing about Mwepu and Patson is that they can operate in 3 different positions. Mwepu can play as an attacking midfielder or defensive midfielder as well as in central defence (this is a gift to any player) Patson Daka can play all postions up front, as a striker, left winger and right winger (gift from God) It is not many players)
