Nakambala Leopards defender Alex Mwamba has gone AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave) for nearly a month. Mwamba who joined the Mazabuka based outfit earlier this year disappeared immediately after the Southern Province derby ( Eagles 3-2 Nakambala on September 21st in Choma).
Nakambala Leopards Vice-Chairman Obert Habasimbi confirmed the development in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew.
“Alex has been Away Without Official Leave for more than 2 weeks, Efforts to get to him have been futile as all his phones are unreachable. Currently, all I can say we know nothing about his whereabouts, we shall surely get to the bottom of this situation,” he said.
“We know the rules of the game, and the procedure towards such shall be followed accordingly to save as evidence in case of contract termination in the coming days,” he added.
Mwamba played the first 3 games for Nakambala Leopards (Away loss to Red Arrows, Home loss to Zesco United and The away loss In the Southern Derby at the hands of Green Eagles) partnering Given Sinyangwe in the heart of the defense.
Ever since Alex went AWOL, Nakambala Leopards have played 3 games without him giving head coach Zeddy Saileti the option to play youthful defender Timothy Banda and giving him a chance to shine.
