Zambia return to Africa’s biggest football showpiece after missing the last three editions.
Below are some of the stats for the Copper Bullets at the finals.
- Zambia will be making her 18th appearance at AFCON
- Zambia has played 67 matches; 26 wins, 20 draws, and 21 defeats
- The Chipolopolo Boys have scored 81 goals
- Zambia has reached the semi finals 6 times – Bronze (1982, 1990 & 1996) , Silver (1974, 1994) & Gold (2012).
- Kalusha Bwalya was top scorer with at the 1996 edition in South Africa. He scored a hatrick and a brace against Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso in the group stage.
- Emmanuel Mayuka grabbed the Golden Boot award in 2012 after he scored 3 goals.





Chris Katongo and Didier Drogba also scored 3 goals each but Mayuka claimed the award as he had also had an assist.
- Peter ‘Toshack’ Kaumba was named in the 1982 Best XI.
- Stopilla Sunzu, Lubambo Musonda and Evans Kangwa are the only players to have featured at AFCON in the current national team.
