Action for Kennedy Mweene and Fashion Sakala

Two Zambia national team players were in action on Monday and they both put in impressive 90 minutes performances for their respective clubs.

In South Africa, Chipolopolo goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene made a rare start between the sticks for Masandawana, His 6th appearance of the season replacing Ugandan Dennis Onyango who was left out of the matchday squad.

Mweene put in an impressive full shift as the Brazilians beat Golden Arrows 1-0 to end a four-match winless streak. Themba Zwane scored the only goal of the game in additional time slotting home from close range to score his tenth goal of the season after being set up by Lebohang Kgosana Maboe.

The win takes Pitso Mosimane’s side to 50 points just three adrift of log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

In Belgium, Fashion Sakala put in a decent 90-minute shift for 10-man KV Oostende who fought hard to earn a point away at Sint- Truiden.

Oostende was reduced to ten men after midfielder Jelle Bataille was given marching orders following a second bookable offense in the 76th minute.

Five minutes Icelandic defender Ari Freyr Skúlason scored for the KustBoys but it was disallowed, 0-0 the match ended.

The draw means Oostende has picked up their first point this season and their first point away at Truiden since the 2015/16 season.
