Napsa Stars have qualified to their third ABSA Cup final following a 4-2 penalty shootout win over 2018 Champions, Nkana.
The Pensioners sealed their slot on post match penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.
The two teams came into the match looking to reach their third final having each reached the final twice in this competition already.
Nkana were the first team to come close in the 3rd minute but Jacob Ngulube ballooned his effort.
A minute later NAPSA Stars forced a good save from Kelvin Malunga after Chaniza Zulu’s powerful low shot.
Patrick Gondwe nearly gave Nkana the lead in the tenth minute after beating two defenders before unleashing a powerful long range drive but it went wide.
Skipper Diamond Chikwekwe was next to come close as a forced Rodwell Mukwanya into a save.
It was end to end staff with either team looking dangerous when they went forward. Musonda Kapembwa saw his header go wide off the mark in the 32nd minute.
The match went to the break level at 0-0.
The second stanza came with more of the same as Chikwekwe’s effort was blocked in the 62nd minute.
It was a cagey affair from then on as no proper clear cut chances were created, 0-0 the match finished.
Bwalya Kasonde and Jacob Ngulube missed their spot kicks while Musonda Kapembwa, Enock Sabumukama, Daniel Adoko and Bornwell Silengo scored for the Pensioners.
NAPSA Stars will face the winner between Green Eagles and Red Arrows in the final on the 16th of April.
Patrick Gondwe was named th man of the match and walked away with K15,000.
The winner of this year’s competition will pocket K650,000 while this year’s runner-up will pocket K300,000. The Player and Coach of the Tournament will each receive K25,000.
