The battle for ABSA Cup places will finally come to an end this afternoon as the slots will be confirmed after this weekend’s round of matches.
The MTN Super League enters week 17 of action with five slots in the only Cup competition in the country up for grabs.
Power Dynamos have already qualified and are safe for the ABSA Cup but will be looking to maintain their top slot when they welcome defending Champions Red Arrows at Arthur Davies Stadium.
The current log leaders take on the Airmen in a week 17 encounter this afternoon to conclude the first half of the season.
The last 4 times these two teams went head to head,Power Dynamos have managed to win twice and drawn twice.
Since 2006, the two have met 32 times with Power winning 16 and only losing seven times with the other 9 ending in draws.
Power Dynamos have been exceptional this season with the top goal scorer in the league (Kennedy Musonda) coming from the club and fans are hoping they can be the 2022/2023 Champions.
Abayellow have won four of their last five games while Red Arrows have one win in that same period.
Joshua Mutale’s last minute goal against Prison Leopards in last week’s encounter , cemented Power Dynamos’ top spot with 32 points, 5 Away from 4th placed Airmen who lost by a lone goal to Green Eagles and sit on 27 points on the table.
Elsewhere, Green Buffaloes just needs a draw to seal a place in the ABSA Cup but visit rejuvenated Zanaco.
Both teams have not lost a game in their last six League games. The hosts however need a win to have a chance of ABSA qualification.
In Mazabuka, FC MUZA welcome Lumwana Radiants at the Nakambala Stadium.
Coach Lameck Banda’s side will be keen to return to winning ways having suffered a 3-2 loss away in Lusaka to Zanaco.
The Elegant Dynamites have only lost once at home while Lumwana Radiants last won an away game in 2021.
Green Eagles fresh from beating defending Champions, Red Arrows welcome Nkwazi at the Independence Stadium in Choma.
Alex Namazaba’a men are the favorites to carry the day but face a hungry Nkwazi side led by prolific Justin Shonga.
Forest Rangers also just need a draw to qualify for the ABSA Cup but face town rivals ZESCO United.
Elsewhere Kabwe Warriors welcome Nchanga Rangers, Kansanshi Dynamos battle Nkana.
