A Muzaza cracker rescues a point for Forest Rangers as Nkwazi edge Zesco United

Webster Muzaza scored a late cracker as Forest Rangers came back from a goal down twice to earn a point against ten-man NAPSA Stars while Christopher Zulu scored a second-half penalty to secure a shock one win over eight-time Super League Champions, Zesco United.

At Woodlands Stadium, Forest Rangers made a trip to Lusaka to face Confederation Cup campaigners NAPSA Stars who were looking for their third win of the season while Fole Malembe was looking to go top of the table.

The Pensioners started strong could have picked up an early lead but Jimmy Mukeya headed his effort over the bar. NAPSA Stars assistant coach Geoffrey Hamakwenda who was in charge of the team in the absence of Mohammed Fathi who tested positive to COVID-19 was forced to make a first-half substitution after Emmanuel Mayuka picked up an injury and was replaced by Doisy Soko.

Napsa Stars finally took the lead in the 44th minute, Enock Sabumukama converted from the penalty spot after Djeugoue Cedric was judged to have handled the ball in the box.

Five minutes into the second half, Substitute Umenu Moro leveled matters with a close-range header. Soko produced a moment of magic with a beautiful strike from outside the box to put the Pensioners in the lead.

With Napsa Stars heading to victory, Daniel Adoko had a moment of madness, Referee Rodrick Ng’andu showed him a yellow card for a foul and he said something which earned him a second yellow and was sent off to reduce the Pensioners to ten men.

With the numerical advantage, Forest Rangers pushed for an equalizer and it came in additional time thanks to a spectacular strike from Webster Muzaza to make sure the two teams shared the spoils.

At Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Christopher Zulu converted from the penalty spot in the 58th minute to hand Nkwazi a hard-fought 1-0 win over Zesco United to move out of the relegation zone to eighth place.

  1. ZEGA is still struggling to replace AKUMU TONNY. A possible replacement would PAUL KATEMA from Red Arrows. An inclussion of AMITY SHAMENDA from Green Eagles and AKA MWACHIYABA from Kabwe would bring muscle and more fire power.
