A Chat with Chipata United’s Mambwe Bulambo ahead of Young Green Buffaloes showdown 

Chipata United are the first team in Eastern province to ply its trade in the FAZ National Division One League and plays its home matches at the refurbished David Kaunda stadium popularly known as DK by the locals. 

United are a community team which stem from Munga compound in Chipata District of Eastern province.

The journey in the National league has not been easy for a debutant team which never lost a match during play-offs in Lusaka as they sit one place away from relegation safety on 16th position but no hope is lost as they have improved, in the last 5 games they have played against Lumwana Radiants in Kalumbila, Nchanga Rangers at David Kaunda, Young prison Leopards in Kabwe, Indeni Fc and Jumulo FC at home, losing only one against Nchanga Rangers.

With 17 games left to play, the team has all to play for and they are optimistic that they will survive relegation. 

The ZamFoot Crew which visited the team’s training ground had a chance to talk to one of the players for  Chipata United FC who has played in the top tier of the Zambian football with Buildcon FC and has been instrumental for Chipata United.

Mambwe Bulambo plays as a left back and is nicknamed Alaba, a name he was given at the super league club Buildcon as he was likened to the Real Madrid star.

Bulambo had a chat with the ZamFoot Crew as his club is preparing for a home encounter with the army sponsored side Young Green Buffaloes FC who sit in 7th place on the log. 

Bulambo has expressed positivity and assured fans for the team that the Sunday encounter against young GBFC is a must win and that the team will do what it takes to collect maximum points.

“We are not taking things lightly, we know that we are facing a strong side but we are desperate for a win. We need to win this game, we have been playing good football lately and we are no longer a team to easily beat, we can beat young Green Buffaloes and we will beat them” Bulambo said in an exclusive interview with the ZamFoot Crew. 

“You know we are debutants in the first national league, we had not settled yet. We started on a low note because of few errors that costed us but I am glad our strikers have gained confidence and we the defensive department have also improved”

Speaking ahead of the Sunday encounter against Young Green Buffaloes Mambwe Bulambo said the team are just eying a win. 

“Well we expect nothing but to win this game at all cost, we are not at a good position. we need to win especially that we are playing at home, we need to do it for the fans and for us”

Chipata United host Young Green Buffaloes at David Kaunda stadium on Sunday 15:00 hrs local time.
