Zambia U17 WNT 11-0 Chikonaty Academy (Theresa Nayame x3, Mercy Chipasula x2, Blessings Zangose Zulu, Harriet Matipa, Mary Mukupa, Taonga Mubanga, Gift Chilwizhi, Saliya Mwanza)

The Zambia U-17 Women’s National Team this afternoon thrashed Lusaka Province Division One log leaders Chikonaty Academy 11-nil in a practice match played at Nkoloma Stadium as they continue to fine tune preparations ahead of this weekend showdown against Tanzania in a 2024 Dominican Republic FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup crucial second round first leg qualifier against Tanzania.

The Copper Princesses were a better side in both halves scoring 7 goals in the opening half with Merceds United striker Theresa Nayame scoring a hattrick while Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles mesmerising winger Mercy Chipasula scored a brace with Pataaki Girls striker Blessings Zangose Zulu and YASA’s Harriet Matipa who was the captain in today’s match registering a goal each to make it 7-nil to the coach Carol Kanyemba’s drilled lasses who displayed some exciting and stylish inter-change of passes in front of Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Technical Director Mr. Lyson Zulu and Coaches Coordinator Mr. Chris Chibuye in the stands.

After the resumption, Chikonaty came back more organised without conceding a goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half as the new goalkeeper Winnie who took up the place for Mirriam Chibuye was equal to the task with some good saves.

However, after making a wholesale of changes, Driven Queens midfielder Lweendo Hanongo quickly added an eighth goal which was however disallowed for offside before YASA’s Natasha Taonga Mubanga scored a beautiful free kick and at this point more goals continued to flow with Red Arrows Midfielder Mary Mukupa scoring a beautiful strike which was followed by another goal from Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles wing wizard Gift Chilwizhi making it ten before the Wonder Kid from Elite Ladies Saliya Mwanza added the icing on the cake with a eleventh goal of the day to send some warning shots to Tanzania.

The Copper Princesses will host Tanzania on 3rd February, 2024 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka at 15h00 in the first leg before travelling to Dar es salaam a week later for the second leg with the overall winner qualifying to the third round.
