Zesco United striker Umaru Kasumba has been nominated for the Sports Journalist Association of Kenya (SJAK) Most Valuable Player prize for the 2018/19 season.
Kasumba was a Sofapa player prior to making his switch to the Zambia Super League Champions. In Kenya he won the player of the month accolade 3 times and emerged 3rd top scorer with 17 goals in the league, 21 in all competitions.
In the category he will battle former Gor Mahia midfielder Francis Kahata and new captain Joash Onyango who were key for K’Ogalo’s title defense during the 2018/19 Kenyan domestic season.
The final listing of three in each category will be done on August 16 before the awards ceremony being held three days later.
Kasumba has already started his life in Zambia, Scoring on his debut for the Ndola giants in the CAF Champions league first leg 2-0 win over Green Mamba of Eswatini.
