Copper Queens Goalkeeper Hazel Nali says the back-to-back Morocco 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers against Malawi won’t be easy but she feels the team has what it takes to emerge as winners.
Speaking in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew on Friday after their morning training session at Nkoloma Stadium, Nali said the Morale is high in the camp and predicted a tough game against Malawi but she’s optimistic everyone is ready to perform.
“Everyone is excited ahead of the game against Malawi next week. It won’t be easy because every team is improving every day, every team wants to qualify to the Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON),” Nali said.
The Hapoel Beer’Sheva Goalkeeper also urged her teammates to continue working hard and further called on the supporters to rally behind the team.
“We are going to take every game seriously, we are very much ready and prepared we just have to qualify to the AWCON without any negotiations,” she said.
“To the fans, they should just continue to support us like they have been doing. It’s their support that will keep us performing well and getting the results we need,” she added
The Copper Queens will travel to Lilongwe for the first leg slated for Bingu National Stadium on 20th October 2021 before hosting the Scorchers six days later in the return match set for Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium.
The winner between Zambia and Malawi will face either Tanzania or Namibia in the second and final round of the 12th Edition of the AWCON to be staged in Morocco from July 2-23, 2021.
