A last minute defensive mistake by Boyd Mkandawire who otherwise had a good game saw Zambia lose 3 – 2 away against Guinea Bissau to fall out of the 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations race.
Zambia twice went down but were able to level matters through Collins Mbesuma and Chris Katongo but a defensive howler saw Zambia concede in the 7th minute of added time to remain on 6 points as Guinea Bissau moved to 10.
Zambia can now only count on qualifying as the best second placed team in the group and that totally depends on how results in other groups go.
Zambia XI v Guinea Bissau
1 Kennedy Mweene, 2 Kabaso Chongo, 7 Boyd Mkandawire, 13 Stoppila Sunzu, 4 Adrian Chama, 14 Nathan Sinkala, 12 Paul Katema (Salulani Phiri), 9 Collins Mbesume, 11 Christopher Katongo (Lubambo Musonda), 17 Rainford Master Kalaba (C) (Evans Kangwa), 10 Kalengo Winstone

We are finished.katema over chisamba lungu zoona na janza awamapo.
kalu had a hand in the bias referee. he will do everything to have kamanga discredited. zambia has failed to qualify thus no confidence will be passed in faz and kamanga
Ba stompi naimwe ikalenifye if you can’t put forward soccer ideas
Are you saying kalu had the hand in the friendly games played before this game?
It is a known fact inkoko can’t read games kalu was right when he said no local coach is ready to coach Zambia
It was good not to qualify with this coach
Even Janza is better than this inkoko
FlNISHED
how do you substitute Chris who was pehaps our best player and living Paul katema who to me was nowhere near the action points? secondly, you kill off the moral by finally removing the goal creator the master Kalaba?. George Lwandamina has costed zambia this loss.on benching Chisamba, I don’t know what to say.
If you thought Kalusha was not important to Zambia think again.
Poor kalu is blamed for a poor Zambia display kekekeke. Its simple zambia has a suspect goalkeeper and pathetic defence. You can’t qualifier for a world cup with that kind of defence.Never!!! but with a proper coach like muletin ,that whole defence could be sorted.
Hehehehehe….., zambia played 3 lowly rated West African teams lost 2 and drew 1.
Losing to mediocre teams like Togo, Guinea Bissau and a stalemate with a team ranked 51 out of 54 teams in CAF.
Zambia football is going down faster than you think. Not zambia is out of afcon race.
Next in line is the world cup qualifiers. And expect zambia to face tougher oppositions when the draws is conducted.
Zambia is now 20th in Africa, zambia will still slide down to around 25 before the draw. Now zambia will be pitched with teams like ivory coast, ghana, tunisia, algeria, morocco, egypt. This is suicide my brothers. These teams will massacre the chipos easily.
Is Mkandawire better than Mbola! Coaching pa Zed.
Milovan Rajevac or Milutin Sredojević can do wonders for Zambia. Serbian coaches are very good .
I don’t understand why they left Stephen kabamba on bench…what about chisamba hw do you leave..then the refs decisions as well bias.foget abt qualifying…left back z a problem I mean ther are players like maybin chishimba and Lawrence chungu of power and nkana respectively…people let’s be realistic ther r better players than we think..small errors o school boy mistake cost us de game am not happy serious…don’t point kalu as. A problem.let’s call a spade mkandawire z no beter player to those mentioned above..am not happy
Hahahaha what is it mean when somebody is called an inkoko lmao. I know this is a insult.
Kamanga thot that being a FA president was easy it’s not just organising friendly games and cutting mafro useless deals
It’s making sure that we qualify but then what do you know qualifying if you took kabwe warriors into the drain
Ever since you became the boss Zambia has not recorded a win
Am sure you are happy. ..going to your own drawing board
The only consolation I hope to have is firing inkoko upon arrival
Stop giving yourselves hope. Zambia do not deserve to be in next year Afcon with this bizarre performers in recent games.
Zambia can only finish with 9 points and can never secure a second best tickets. You need to target at least 10 points to emerge as one of the best loser. But 11 is ideal points for best loser.
Just forget about Afcon 2017. Zambia priority now should be world cup qua, 2017 Caf U17 and fifa U17, likewise 2017 Caf U20(lucky in zambia) and fifa U20.
we still ve a chance i say but the coach must look fast dominating players like
Like mayuka. He wont score but his presure maybe enoughee
its a known fact chicken cant read a game. those of us with foresight were bold enough to say this from the begining. but fact is kalu has a lot of pull in caf. he had a hand in the selection of refs to discredit kamanga
Ya kalu has behaved badly against his country if there is any truth to that brother. I suppose he also set Diramba in our path and the Swedish referee in Liverpools path against Sevilla. Kalu…
Guinea had 10 players on the field when they scored the third goal.
People I eat football I drink football..I ll hv nightmares today….
mkandawire again. pliz if kabamba can’t play then co mbola.
Surely Zambia will get a tough draw , Something like this Algeria,Cameroon, Morocco and Zambia. as things stand going by rankings Zambia is in pot 4, a pot for lowest ranked teams in a qualifying draw.
Hear this guys, South Africa has walked Gambia 3 nil in Gambia.
meant wacked.
Meanwhile Gambia who played a goalless draw with Zambia are getting hammered 4-0 in front of their home support by your neighbours south Africa with 80 minutes played .
Lawrence chungu o maybin chishimba..fuckson kapumbu..Emmanuel mbola I miss renard and is wining with Morocco next year
Gambia 0-3 South Africa.
That is the same gambia the chipos couldn’t defeat. South africa is busy Sodomizing them in gambia. Zambia football is dead.
We simply don’t have quality players. Our local coaches are even worse. When HR was coach he managed to drill even the average players we had. They knew how to defend and attack as a unit. Players never switched off with or without the ball. Discipline for 90+ minutes.
Today our defence is an accident waiting to happen. Our transition from defense to attack is absolutely pathetic. We can mourn about poor officiating but hey how many clear cut chances did we create? How many shots on goal did we attempt?
We’ve been deceiving ourselves with scrappy victories here and there but we all knew what was coming.
George is useless coach.
Most of u are fools if u think this is kamanga. Zambia had already failed to qualify when kamanga came in. The ones too blame are Kalusha and the coach. The coach should be fired for ignoring mbola, singuluma, mayuka and other experienced players.
Kamanga has no record of success football for us to bank on him(novice). Kalu and kamanga aside the country needs a machinery to churn out quality footballers. Check the recent moves in China that’s what we need.
Mr lwandamina should now take responsibility, as a nation we need to reflect on how bad selection has posted us its too late otherwise. Congratulations to Guiene Bissau you have qualified fairly
Surely George lwandamina has failed it’s time for wedson nyirenda now
Zambia 78th drew with Gambia ranked 164th in the world and you are here claiming Africa super power.
No more local coaches. Zambia needs an expatriate coach in the mould of Have Renard.Under him, Morroco has greatly improved.
Gambia was humiliated 4-0 at home ,surely this proves Zambia are not a so called powerhouse.
Lwandamina is not serious, honestly how can you substitute Katonga and Kalaba in that game. You Katema should have gone out for Chisamba Lungu and Kalengo for Evans Kangwa. There was going be no room for Boyd M’kandawire.Lwandamina pure a mature. And it is sad to miss Africa cup.
Its a very painful loss , although it was expected. In 2004, one of the Best coaches in Patrick Phiri failed to qualify and was drawing with teams like Chad and Benin. Today, it is George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina , whom I believe will throw in the towel immediately he lands so that he concentrates on Zesco United . Our Coaches have failed to modernize , our football on the pitch is purposeless. We need a football revolution otherwise we are finished .
This gb is just lucky two fluke wins over Zambia and Kenya and for mkandawire just when he had the best game in national colours then boom the inexperienced lad lets the ball bounce very bad tactics just have to go back to the famous drawing board
Remove that ugly useless chicken off our bench and everything will work out alright! Recall Jacob, Kola, Mbola, Mayuka, Ndumba, Martim Phiri, Kapumbu for world cup preps. If they turn out to be better than Katema, M/wire, Mfune, Salulani etc they shud b selected, Tonite the subs were pathetic to say the least,
To blame Kalu for this loss abena Stumpy is to show the world how shallow you are upstairs
looxl bro. we better avoid Zambia Kikikiki
Everything is falling apart in our beloved country..God help us.
Where are you Wailers who called Renard useless coach.am enjoying reading through your comments, written with anger and anguish.you know why coz through i went through that when you called my favourite coach Renard useless and my great kalu ati galu.atleast these guys brought the only africa cup trophy and never failed to qualify.pwaaaaaa.
its tru de boy is gud bt nt for such games. mbola, steve or even davies cud ve bin de answer for dat wing. ba coach I thot we nided xperience at this stage in chisamba than playin katema. misplaced priorities anyway.
But pls guys we need ur prayers against Mauritius. Am scared for tomorrow. It is 1pm local time.
Bro, we trashed them 7-1 in Ghana. So don’t worry.
@ john do not blame kalu. Kamanga’s presences is not felt . They played two games and failed to record even a single before kalu’s depature the never lost.. Useless jersey and bamboo bus does not win matches.. Lets blame kamanga for failing to challenge the coach call up quality players.. Period..
Methimatically zambia are out of tha race. Unless a miracle is going to happen.. Zamfot tell people tha truth that zambia is out. Nine points wont take them anywhere..
Kamanga bribg back the techinical commiittee! Otherwise these idiot local coaches wil b selecting players based on personal factors, how do u call a junior player, that sits on the bench at his club to the nation team and on top of that has mot scored a single goal in 12 months! Kamanga get rid of the relics from the past and ensure that deserving players are given a chance! the natioal team is not for Chickens favourite players! You c now the fool coach has greatly embarrased us….. damn u!
@Chu, um also scared of the might Mauritius, they are the same level as powerhouse Zambia ,um really scared.
The bus and useless mafro doesn’t win you games.even 2019 we shall fail to qualify with this useless atitude of wanting to impless fake soccer analysts at the expense of football development.just because they shouted your name loudest ku tama radio shows for you to become faz, you start doing as they wish for fear of losing there favour.
in January 2015, Zambians were comparing themselves to the black stars of Ghana. u see now? u have cursed yourselves. can u imagine? SHAME. ….
You moron! What are you doing on our website anyway? Let me give you some statistics for Zambia. 1) In 1974 we reached the AFCON finals with DRC. 2) In 1994 we reached the finals and came second after Nigeria. In 1996, we were no 3. In 2010, we were no 8. In 2012, we were Champs. We clobbered you 1-0 at AFCON 2012. We again clobbered you here in Ndola 1-0 for World cup qualifier. We humiliated you when we went to the Olympics 1988 before your home ground. We went on to beat Guatemala 4-0, Sweden 2-2, Italy 4-0. We have been regular qualifiers for AFCON from time immemorial. Recently we played the might brazil and we lost 2-0 in China. There are many more games we have played against poverty stricken west Africans and we have been beating them. An example is Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon etc. You check the history of Zambia you little brat.
u see? u people talk too much and do very little. please learn from ur superiors and stop dis mediocre talk. who’s in de dish? u have notin yet u boast and hit ur chest. Google about Ghana’s economy, cultural etc. even luk at de n umba of our players in top teams in Europe. do u know three of our players warn de PL with Leicester city?
Playing in Europe is not everything. And why do you western African people think that when you go to Europe as economic refugees then your life is fulfilled? Europe is not your country, try by all means to develop Accra which is very dirty. We hammered Ivory Coast with all their so called stars. When did you last win the AFCON? During Zinjathropus time perhaps. We have a lot Zambians playing in Europe. An example is Charly Musonda from Betis. We have even Hollywood stars such as Samantha Mumba acting with stars like the Rock etc, not nollywood nor ghanahood if at all it is there but Zambians don’t boast about it.
You are just boasting. Check Ghana’s record on the continental scene & the world stage. Zambia’s record falls short of almost every West African country. Even in our poverty (if that’s true) we love the game of football and you are not our equals. You just couldn’t hammer Guinea Bissau & you are singing your praises? Any way, just try to be at the world cup for once as that is the ultimate. You talk of the number of times you’ve been to AFCON. Yes you won in 2012. It was a FLUKE. Ghana won many times during “ZINJATHROPUS”. Where were you then? Check the current statistics and discover for yourself how many times Ghana has been to the finals & out of sheer luck or misfortune, bolted out by Ivory Coast on penalties. We are satisfied with Ivory Coast as the cup stays in West Africa.
Ghana has never missed an Afcon qualification. During the last Afcon, you could not even get out of the group stages. have you thought about that? To get on a serious note, Zambia has a fundamental problem in soccer: Youth development is the key. You need academies – football academies to groom the young and promising kids for your national teams. Secondly, like all African nations, the management of our national teams is beset with corrupt people who don’t have the nation or game at heart but their pockets. Favouritism, biases, bribery and local club affiliations hamper the growth of the game at the national level. Let us all come together and see how we can solve OR at leas reduce the effects of these problems haunting us. Comparing ourselves and insulting each other would not solve any of our problems. FORGIVE ME FOR THE FIRST PART (JUST trying to pull your legs}
Are you serious at all??????????? hammered ivory coast and clobbered Ghana? Don’t use these words for mediocrity sake, just some few tuition to save you out of mediocrity and naivety: clobbered and hammered are accolades of goals by huge margins, now when did u hammer or clobber ivory coast or Ghana by say 3/4 goals or more, that must be in your wildest dreams bro,get a life !
ignorance is killing u. who’s is in de dish.bye bye.
@Kwame Nkrumah, you are misrepresenting the great man Kwame Nkrumah. Find another blog name. Well Zambia won Ghana 1-0, Senegal 2-1, Sudan 3-0, Ivory Cost 8-7, comoros 2-1, Libya 2-2, Equatorial Guinea 1-0, Libya 0-0 and it was all a fluke? You know very well that Zambia among the Southern African teams is the one which stands up against the proud West Africans because we don’t like to be intimidated. The game between Zambia and Guinea Bissau was one of the worst if not the worst history. Mweene our goal keeper catches the ball and the thief still it out of his hands. The first goal was an off side and there was no infringement from our defender. The extra time was doubled. First 4 minutes was added after 90 minutes then another 3 minutes after 94th minute. What a ref. Probably he was paid a huge amount of money. The only genuine goal was the third one and It was scored in extra-extra time. Lol
I am somehow happy that Zambia did not qualify because Zambians only begin to make serious changes when disaster strikes. The idea of having a club coach as national team coach was simply stupid. It meant George Lwandamina had no time to go and watch other teams in the league play because every weekend he was on the bench coaching his team Zesco. It is no wonder that he only selected players that he had worked with previously (Green Buffaloes and Red Arrows) and his current team (Zesco). George is the most biased coach we have ever had.
Somebody was undergoing a military training by the name of Paul Katema back with no match fitnes, the coach can’t see it plays him ahead of chisamba Lungu on top of that he plays a young boy Mkandawire who has not kicked a ball at Napsa this season hoping to qualify for afcon.
This is not kamanga’s most of you kalu worshipers are so annoying. Kalusha would even fail to plan basic travel arrangements. How can you arrive on the day of the game like what happened against cape Verde. Kamanga did his part. He sent the team to west Africa early and arranged two games for them. The fool is the coach. Evans kangwa is an amateur how can you select him ahead of Mayuka. Mbola is so experienced why leave him out. Why continue to favor average players like katema. The one to blame is the coach who was hired by Kalusha himself!
What about Kamanga’s team travelling by road in West Africa! You exhaust players with your pathetic travel arrangement ati quality friendlies my foot! The team travelled by road for more than 300 kms and you are here showing your usual shallowness in reasoning!Kalu knew how to get the best out of players as a leader. How do you expect someone who presided over the relegation of a club to provide strong leadership at the national level!Mukose!
Well lets see what others said before kick off

supporting failure.
mediocrity is Zambians. from their players to even comments that we see here. STRIVE EXCELLENCE. learn from the black stars and never compare ur cheapoliopolio to our team. # only mouth, mouth u get for ur there.
Papa has hammered the nail on the head. This has nothing to do with kamanga. Kalu is the one who appointed a club coach as national team coach. This guy was not watching other teams in the league hence he ended up being biased just calling zesco players.
You’re just being very silly by blaming Kalu. Move on and swallow the bitter pill of reality. Kalu had his issues but to blame him for this failure is utter rubbish!
If its Kalu, then he was taking part in the coaching hence aiding Lwandamina. Removing him was the mistake then. He people who removed him should take the blame. The worst is yet to come. 150 players at under 17.
Bad. The lack of ambition is the reason. Lack of ambition is everywhere to see.
At least now we know what is what, from the ashes the phoenix can rise.
As a fan i did my part and its nt my fault tht we hav faild to qualify but its a mata of tym mayb its tym we learnt a leson i knw tht we hav so many enemies u shud oso learn to apretiate when zambia is doing wel i dnt c bugs flyng around zamfoot when we are doing gud we knw tht your teams ar doing gud u may nt knw mayb this failure is tryng to point at a big problem in our game nigeria has faild to qualify, I beliv we learn through mistakes congratulations guinea bissau for qualifying for the 1st tym and all the teams tht hav qualified.
Paradox incarnated?

Hahahahaha……
Something major has to be done within Zambian football. Even though, Zambia is not at its best as I’m speaking, but good teams like Zambia I believe could have still whoop this folks. Good luck next time my brothers.
Meant “these”
This is the great Ghanaian PITO, I have landed on this site to Send out my deepest Condolences to Our Zambian Brothers and Sisters. You will not be physically playing in Afcon but You will be with Us in Spirit. Your absence will be greatly missed. For today Don’t worry, just tell your players to work extra hard and they will soon be playing beautiful football as if they are Ghanaians :D. These are my words of comfort to you all and by the way I need a Zambian woman to marry.
Janza is better. He fielded the best team. Yesterday, I was shocked seing Paul Katema and Boyd Mkandawire in the 1st eleven.
In as much as that Algerian moronic referee was very biased, Lwandamina should be the one to carry a lot of blame. Team selection is pathetic. Mkandawire is not national team material and so is Adrian Chama. To me Chris Munthali comes first ahead of Adrian Chama. Mbola should be left back number for Zambia. Surely why start ka Katema ahead of evergreen Chisamba Lungu? Katongo was very effective but clueless Lwandamina had to substitute him for Lubambo. Lets bring in another coach and the focus should be to qualify for world cup in Russia in 2018. Forget about AFCON 2018.
I mean forget about AFCON 2017
Fuck you chi chicken y did u cal chisamba if u new dat u wont use him?fuck u
As soon as I saw the Zambia squad on my computer I realized Zambia football is retrogressing. I just can’t believe why the Zambia we have been hearing here in Ghana has no players playing in the lower leagues of Europe, let alone the top leagues.
Try to say bye to chichen you have done your worst and we dont want you to spoil.you bench chisamba and play katema are u using exprience or dullness you have cost us useless coach.Just concetret with club coaching
Yes the mistake was made, but we had a good chance to defend that goal. If it was a “last minute incidence”, why didnt the defender just bring the striker down and be sent off rather lossing the game. Ubukopo, ala!
Let’s face facts; Lwandamina has failed. This is not about Kalu or Kamanga. This is about the coach. The situation can be used to our advantage. Now is the time to sort out the coach situation and now it is time to concentrate on World Cup Qualifiers with no distractions.
I admit that George has let Chipolopolo down.Kananga must be blamed too. Players were called but then if the coach call ups are as pathetic as they were you do not raise eyebrows and fold your arms. Lwandamina must have been given a word going into this match. Something like an ultimatum. It would have irked him to summon the best.Zambia has enough material to outdo countries like GB anywhere and under any factors. Even a novice coach can guide Zambia to a win over GB in less than 24hours of the previous match should a platform for that be provided.
Oh please. Kamanga was not president of FAZ when Zambia failed to beat Guinea Bissau in Zambia. Kamanga was president for one game and in that game Zambia played 2 friendliest and camped in Guinea Bissau well before kickoff. What more was he supposed to do aside from put on a jersey and go on the field??? You guys are just looking for scapegoats.
Lwandamina had all the tools and players to win this game and many others before this one. He too cannot bare the full blame because he is a coach with no contract and club commitments. The whole thing has been a shambles before Kamanga even got there.
katema and chepeshi are useless ,but george has let us down he is indeed an idiot.
The team doesn’t have an inspirational leader…who would rise to the occasion and take the game by the scruff on the neck. I was appalled at Mbesuma’s reaction following that reckless incident; Kalaba too rather long to react by restraining him.
We dominated in the second half but weren’t incisive in attack….like players didn’t know what was at stake.
Forget -AFCON 2017 concentrate on World Cup qualifiers 2018 and possibly new coach and entire technical bench
To b honest and frank zambia is 1 of the best teams in africa despite wat we ar going through, my apeal to kamanga and faz is tht this must b the last game for george lwanda pliz luk 4 an expatrte coach as soon as posible otherwise we ar nt going anywere the tecnicle bench led by a chicken.
Ghana is happy!!! Chicken, u made a lot of mistakes Katongo and Kalaba were ok! A draw was better looking @ how the game was officiated.the coach should have told his boys to knock the ball around. Capitalize on there mistakes
The people of Ghana hardly think about Zambia. Please do not take it that the few individuals who pester you on this forum is representative of what Ghanaians think of Zambia (football wise). Never heard of any news media discussing Zambia
Yes the skipper and teammates did not come to Collins aid and that defender with a funny head should have just brought the striker and taken one for the team moreover the game was almost finished dicision making sooooo pathetic with some of these so called experienced players,my heart bleeds just turn to tennis hoping Andy m will upset djokovic that at least will clot my bleeding heart
Who brought George to the national team? Is it Kalu or Kamanga.I once said it.George selects players from the clubs he had coached. Hence the failure. Let’s try an expatriate.
Another fiasco by George, this just goes to show the bias selection of players by the coach.
No need for an expatriate yet. Lets try any other of our qualified coaches – uefa B – right now, Chris Kaunda, under 17 coach is the most qualified. we can have kelvin Kaindu to assist him, I think he must be completing his uefa course.
Are the wailers dead? Are they still looking for the awarding winning coach to blame? Ukutumpa!
Renard we miss you!
the game was ok we could have scored the third one before they scored if they had not sub c.katongo he was a key in our midfield and chama was not surposed to start were was muthali the usual partner to sunzu.
