Under-20 off to South Africa for Cosafa

Zambia Under-20 coach Beston Chambeshi has declared his side ready for next week’s Cosafa Cup in South Africa which starts on 7th December 2016.

And the team left for South Africa on Saturday morning.

The team will be using the tournament to prepare for the CAF Under-20 Cup of Nations which Zambia is hosting from 27th February to 26th March, 2017 with venues being Lusaka’s Heroes Stadium and Levy Mwanawasa in Ndola.

Chambeshi, who is assisted by  Green Buffaloes coach Bilton Musonda has named a strong squad for the Junior regional championship.

The attack will be led by on loan Power Dynamos striker Patson Daka and Fashion Sakala of Zanaco. There’s also Red Arrows’ Joseph Phiri in the squad.

The three boys from the East are natural goal poachers with Daka and Sakala going into the tournament with 22 league goals between them.

Mufulira native Happy Mwila Nsofwa is also in the squad and could provide firepower off the bench.

Israel based striker Conlyde Luchanga is also expected to link up with the team after the tournament in South Africa.

In midfield, the boy to look out for will be Enock ‘Computer’ Mwepu, who is on loan at Napsa Stars from Kafue Celtic and Zanaco’s  anchorman Boyd Siame Musonda.

Kabwe Warriors’ Solomon Mukuka will marshal the defence alongside Boyd Mkandawire. Both players have been capped at full international.

  1. This is undoubted one of Zambia’s strongest assembles at U20. Failure to reach the finals will be a disappointment. Discipline on the part of the players will be key to winning this tourney. Goodluck

  2. Kazala Hires Cadres To Shower Kamanga With Insults In Mufulira

Suspended FAZ vice-president Richard Kazala yesterday hired a horde of cadres who he stationed near the VIP section to insult his boss Andrew Kamanga.

Kazala, a thief that has pocketed K150, 000 from ticket sales and is due to face the council for expulsion, has since launched a nation wide campaign to pass a vote of no confidence in Kamanga.

Kamanga was in Mufulira to crown Zanaco for their 2016 feat but endured a barrage of invective from hired thugs who called him “failure” “weak” and “visionless”. They demanded he resigns or he will be forced out.

Part of Kazala’s strategy is to hire thugs, mostly feable and malnourished body builders from Chingola, to intimidate, insult and portray Kamanga unpopular at public events.

Kazala has also hired a few hungry souls among FAZ councillors whom he has planted on social media to drive his agenda. Kazala does not deny he stole public funds but is hiding in a claim that Kamanga did not follow procedure to suspend him.

The Chingola businessman who failed his people as member of parliament believes his only route to public life is to remain in FAZ.

According to sources, Kazala is spending between K50 to K200 on every feable and malnourished bodybuilder he is stationing at public events Kamanga is due to attend.

The sources further say Kazala has a weekly stipend of between K250 to K500 for his social media barking dogs.

“As we approach the AGM, the budget will increase because Kazala has vowed to prove a point to Kamanga that he can’t match him where spending is concerned.

“Kazala is claiming most councillors ni chushi (are poverty stricken) and can easily be swayed with utuma K500. He says he has more liquid cash to spend than Kamanga without anyone questioning him,” the source adds.

Kazala says Kamanga must be removed from FAZ so that he can go and practice his “accountability” and “transparency” somewhere else.

Last month, Kamanga while exercising his powers as FAZ president suspended Kazala and his sidekick Blackwell Siwale for failing to account for K150, 000 which was match ticket proceeds from the Zambia versus Nigeria encounter.

Kazala and Siwale collected K1,650, 000 from government but only declared K1, 500, 000 prompting an audit query. FAZ has previously operated on a petty cash basis with officials known to share gate takings at stadia especially after every international match.

The trend had continued under the previous administration with funds from international match appearance fees in excess of $1 million all going unaccounted. Kazala has been party to an administration that has plundered Zambia’s US $2 million that CAF paid for winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012.

  3. Mwebantu first from the beginning how did Kazala found himself as Vice President?
In Zambia we are very behind and unprofessional with the way we run our Football, Some of these guys know nothing about football and their job is to just steel.

I believe there are people out there with ideas of football but don’t have a chance
to be in FAZ reason being that they don’t have money, but that is not the case if
someone doesn’t have money it doesn’t mean i can’t be there at FAZ.

Honestly this Kazala should go because no contribution is making to the Nation,
I believe Kamanga is the right person for our football just that there are a lot
of rotten nuts at FAZ and who doesn’t know anything about football.

We had the issue of age cheating at U17 and believe me the world is watching us and the so called U20 boys ain’t U20, this is because we only have people working
with the national team yet there is no plan about our future.

    LEAVE KAMANGA ALONE

  4. age cheating is everywhere life is to short for footballers to make it big. look at coasta the Chelsea striker do you think that is his real age. so its everywhere their very few who make it in football at a tender age and have there genuine years.
