Zesco v Stade Malien match live on SS

Zesco United and Supersport have clinched an agreement that will see the Second leg of the second round of the CAF champions league game against Stade Malien televised.

Club General secretary Justin Mumba said that the two parties have reached an agreement that the match which will take place be live on TV.

The game will be played on Tuesday at 15:00 hours, we know its a full working day for soccer fans.We would have loved to have the game at 18 hours under flood lights but we a know the current power deficit the country is experiencing and Levy Mwanawasa is situated in an area that has a general power fault so we wouldn’t want to take a risk. In an event of an unforeseen Power-cut CAF will straight away ban and impose a heavy fine on the club.

Mumba called on fans who will manage to be at Levy to turn up in numbers to support Zesco.

Zesco United beat Stade Malien last week in Bamako 3-1 to increase the chances of qualifying to the CAF champions league group stage.

Zesco is in the last 16 and are eyeing the prestigious group stage in the competition where they last featured for the first time in 2009 when they became the first Zambian club to participate at that level.

  1. Off topic: GEORGE Lwandamina has been working as national team coach without any conditions of service. And FAZ is eyeing Wedson Nyirenda to assist Lwandamina and also take charge of the junior teams. Sources have revealed that the current FAZ executive was shocked to learn that Lwandamina had no conditions of service in his letter of appointment. “The president (Andrew Kamanga) and Blackwell (Siwale) were surprised. Apparently Zesco was very frank; they showed them a letter of his [Lwandamina’s] appointment, which just reads ‘you have been appointed as national team coach’; that’s all,” the source said. “So it’s Zesco that has been paying him [Lwandamina], and they have rights to demand answers but unfortunately they were previously treated with arrogance by the secretariat…. He is going to continue like that because government does not have money at the moment, and Parliament will be dissolved soon, [so] there will be no minister to resolve any issues that may arise if he is employed in the current situation. So once the situation normalises, we will deal with it conclusively. There is actually no issue with Zesco; they are very mature people,” said the source. The Kalusha Bwalya executive that hired Lwandamina repeatedly declined to reveal details of Lwandamina’s contract, claiming the coach’s conditions of service could not be discussed in public. Lwandamina was appointed interim Chipolopolo trainer in June last year. Meanwhile, FAZ wants to bring Nyirenda as Lwandamina’s assistant at the national team. According to an insider at Football House, Nyirenda who is currently coaching Mozambique’s premier league side Ferraviaro de Beira is favourite to be Lwandamina’s second in command at the helm of Chipolopolo. The source said Nyirenda is also likely to become head coach of the Zambia Under-20 national team in order to prepare for 2019 under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Zambia will host. The source said even Lwandamina himself had indicated that he needed an assistant coach so as to ease his dual role [as Chipolopolo and Zesco coach] in case of a collision in programmes between the club and the national team. Nyirenda is one of Zambia’s most decorated coaches.

  2. @ pink frog, spot on i for 4 one always talked about wedson nyelenda been side line by previous corrupt admistration, its been long overdue. He is a good coach with a very good record, he wasnt given an oppotunity becoz of one selfish person who wanted only those who does nt oppose him.

  3. Government has no money for a Coach surely? Money is their but its being used for other irrelevant things. Vehicles are being bought for campaigns and other stuff.
Mr. Kamanga the issue of a foreign Coach is serious. Please look into it.
