ZESCO Ndola Girls Reclaim Top Spot as YASA Queens and Trident Queens Secure Vital Wins

Defending champions ZESCO Ndola Girls have returned to the summit of the ZPL Women Super League following a commanding 5-1 victory over Amazing Grace FC in Matchweek 23 on Saturday, 7 February 2026.

The Kitwe side raced into an early lead when Avell Chitundu struck in the 5th minute, setting the tone for a dominant display. Esther Muchinga doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute, before Chitundu completed a remarkable haul with goals in the 35th, 47th, and 63rd minutes. Ruth Muwowo pulled one back for Amazing Grace in the 33rd minute, but it proved little more than a consolation as ZESCO Ndola Girls cruised to a comprehensive win.

The victory elevates ZESCO Ndola Girls to 52 points, giving them a two-point cushion at the top of the table. For Amazing Grace, the defeat leaves them precariously placed just outside the relegation zone with 18 points, highlighting the critical nature of their remaining fixtures.

Elsewhere, Trident Queens secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Konkola Blades Queens to maintain their 9th place on the log with 32 points. Monica Chisanga opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, and Elizabeth Chishimba sealed the win in the 74th minute after Sampa Sascha Chisanga had briefly levelled for Konkola Blades in the 55th minute. The victory was vital for Trident Queens as they look to climb further up the mid-table standings.

In a rescheduled Week 6 clash, YASA Queens secured a crucial 2-0 win over Chipata Girls thanks to a brace from Harriet Matipa in the 8th and 38th minutes. The result moves YASA Queens to 12th place with 21 points, while Chipata Girls remain anchored to the bottom of the table with just 9 points, facing a difficult climb to safety.

Meanwhile, the fixture between Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens and National Assembly Women was halted due to heavy rain and will resume tomorrow, leaving both sides with an opportunity to gain vital points as the season enters its decisive stages.
