WOMEN’S TOURNEY: PROGRESS AND LUSAKA QUEENS SHARE SPOILS IN A FRIENDLY

Full Time :

Progress SC 0 – 0 Lusaka Queens

Progress Sports Club on Sunday 24th November 2019 battled to a Goalless draw against Lusaka Queens at Mt. Makulu Secondary School Grounds in a practice match as both teams intensify their preparations ahead of the 2019 FAZ Lusaka Provincial League which Kicks off this week.

It was an entertaining match of two halves which lived up to people’s expectations as it ended 0-0 as both sides failed to find the back of the net in a Local Derby match dubbed as the Battle of Mt. Makulu and Parklands Secondary School because players from both clubs attend classes from those two schools with Progress having more pupils at Mt. Makulu while Lusaka Queens have more numbers at Parklands hence this tag made the tie more interesting as bragging rights were at stake.

Progress Goalkeeper Brenda Zulu was equal to the task throughout the game and the same could be said about her opposite number Isabel Banda who was in goal for Lusaka Queens who denied the aggressive Bertha Imponene with goals for Progress by putting up great saves to keep the match stalemate.

Credit must go to the two Goalkeepers from either side for keeping a clean sheets and this could be a morale booster to them going into the tournament.

So many positives were drawn from this match but Progress Coach Josphat Maimisa and his opposite Counterpart Coach Mwanza for Lusaka Queens should be warry about their striking force and will be hoping they do their homework before the games start so as to make sure they score goals which is the most important part of the game.

Notable players To Watch Out For in the Tournament.

Progress Sports Club was drawn in Group C which on paper is seemingly a fair group but they will have to withstand the pressure from Nkwazi who are season campaigners in the FAZ Women’s League.
Other teams in the group are Garden Youth(OYDC) and Vector which will Arguably be very entertaining fixtures.

On the other hand, Lusaka Queens are in Group A and will be hoping to defy all odds as they aim to overcome stern tests from some of the big guns in the league such as Green Eagles, Yasa and Cabana(Parmalat) and will be looking forward to a great performance.
