We knew the game was not going to be easy – Evarine Susan Katongo

Copper Queens midfielder Evarine Susan Katongo says she is happy with the team’s performance in the 3-3 draw with Switzerland.

The Copper Queens blew a 3-1 lead to share spoils with La Nati but Katongo was happy with the input from individual players against an experienced Switzerland side.

The former Zambia U-20 National Team skipper is happy with how the team is coordinating from the goalkeeper to the strikers.

“The game was really okay, we played well as a team, we coordinated well as a team despite the result we got,” she said.

“The results are fine because we knew this game was not going to be easy playing experienced players but we told ourselves to stay focused and not fear names and just play our game.”

“I feel it was really an impressive performance from individuals and as a team. We created and utilized chances that we had,” She added.

The Copper Queens beat Tanzania in a send-off match before losing the Republic of Ireland.

Zambia will now face Germany on July 7 to conclude their preparations before heading to Australia and New Zealand.

At the World Cup, They will open their campaign against Japan at Waikato stadium on 22 July. Spain will be next on the Copper Queens’ Group C schedule before playing their final group match against Costa Rica in Hamilton on 31 July.
