The Super league has entered the second half of season with the teams fighting relegation beginning to realise that going down is reality their are facing and it’s is slowly creeping in on them.
Legendary record cup winners Mighty Mufurila wanderers whose showing this far has had little or no ‘mighty’ about it are among the teams faced with this predicament. However ‘abena Milambo’ are poised to stay up and have since recruited 22 players to help them with that cause.
Among the players that have joined Wanderers are former Sensational Zanaco striker Mathews Macha and Nkana midfielder Aubrey Chamulwanda who has joined on loan. City of Lusaka’s Benjamin Mukandauko is also among the notable players to have moved to Shinde.
Fellow strugglers City of Lusaka have also made a number of signings but the appointment of Italian coaches Roberto Landi and Macca to help save the club from relegation tops the bill.
‘ City Ya Moto’ has also gone further to promise insertives to players if they survive relegation.
1.K10,000 each player for getting out of relegation zone/surviving relegation
2.K4,000 for a win for rest of the season
3.K100 per goal scored
This season it seems the relegation battle will go to the wire. Other relegation threatened teams are Real Nakonde, Konkola Blades, Nakambala Leopards and Kabwe Warriors.
This season is turning out very interesting. Who would have thought that this league will attract foreign players and coaches of proven pedigree? I only hope and pray that this trend continues as it is pivotal in the growth of our league .I have also noted that the management of teams like Lusaka Dynamoes, Zesco United, Buildcon,City of Lusaka is quite professional and I hope other team should up their game in this aspect.
Its really fasnating to c foreign player’s & coaches coming & joining our local teams.
