The opponents of the Copper Queens in the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup have already begun analysing the strengths and weaknesses of the team led by coach Bruce Mwape.
In an interview with FIFA.com, Spanish winger Salma Paralluelo commented on Zambia’s playing style, describing them as a physical team that needs to be effectively countered.
Paralluelo acknowledged the need to find a way to halt Zambia’s strong players in order to secure a victory. Recognizing the challenges presented by every opponent, Paralluelo emphasised the importance of focusing on each match and undertaking meticulous preparation to achieve success.
“Zambia are physical, have very strong players, so we’ll have to find a way to stop them and get the win. Every opponent will be a challenge. We’ll have to focus on every match and carefully prepare in order to win.”- said Paralluelo.
Salma Paralluelo, who contributed three goals, including two in the final against Japan, to Spain’s U-20 World Cup triumph last year, has also made notable contributions to her club Barcelona, scoring 11 goals and providing 4 assists en route to their Spanish Liga F victory.
Additionally, Paralluelo made an impressive debut in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, scoring a goal against Roma during the quarter-finals.
Before the commencement of the FIFA World Cup, the Copper Queens will establish their training base in Furth and engage in high-profile matches in Europe against the Republic of Ireland, Switzerland, and Germany.
The Copper Queens are in Group C at the Women’s World Cup and will commence their debut outing with a match against Japan on July 22 followed by Spain four days later and Costa Rica on July 31.
