Saturday round-up: Bornwell Mwape starts life in NFD on a high

AmaZulu started life in the National First Division of South Africa with a win by beating Witbank Spurs thanks to a solitary goal from Bornwell Mwape.

Mwape found the opener just before half time. Bhengu was released wide by Akoriko on the right channel and he laid it on a plate for Mwape to open his account for Usuthu.

It was first goal of the year for Mwape as the last time he scored was back in December 2014 in 2-1 victory against University of Pretoria, in what was the first game for Steve Barker at the club.

In the PSL of South Africa, Chipolopolo number Kennedy Mweene played the entire game as his team Mamelodi Sundowns won 4 – 2 against Bidvest Wits.

Collins Mbesuma continues to enjoy gametime at Mpumalanga Black Aces and this time helped his team earn a point against Supersport United.

Mwape Musonda will be in action on Sunday for Golden Arrows.

In Armenia, Zambian international Lubambo Musonda completed another full game for his club Gandzasar in the teams 3 – 2 away win over Mika.

Lubambo was denied his debut goal in the 15th minute when his shot which was goal-ward was finished off by his team mate as it headed for the open goal.

Speaking to the ZamFoot Crew after the match Lubambo said he had a good game and had this to say about the goal credited to him;

“I took a shot on goal and it was certainly going in but my team mate finished it off,” Lubambo said about the goal scored by Angulo Vbeymar.

Mika twice came from behind but Gandzasar sealed the win with a 90th minute goal by Atsamaz Buraev.

The 20 year old midfielder has now played three games for his club.

The win takes Gandzasar into third position on 7 point with three games played.

Aubrey Chirwa is yet to make his debut for his Danish side FC Hobro and was missing in his team’s 3 – 1 loss at home against Nordsjælland.

In Thailand, Noah Chivuta continues to enjoy game time and was in midweek action for his team Nakhon Ratchasima when they drew 0 – 0 away against TOT.

The Thai Premier League has gone on a break and will resume on the 13th of September.

Chivuta has played all 21 games for his team this season.

Chisamba Lungu continues to recover and was not named in the Ural team that traveled to play Anzhi.

Emmanuel Mbola played and completed a dramatic game for Hapoel Ra’anana which saw them off-set a 2 – 0 deficit to draw 2 – 2 Hapoel Kfar Saba.

Hapoel Kfar Saba were comfortably leading 2 – 0 before they had a player sent off in the 89th minute with Ra’anana winning a penalty which they converted in the 90th minute. Mbola’s team completed the come back in the 4th minute if additional time for the two teams to share the spoils.

Evans Kangwa was not in the team that played.

  1. @zamfoot Thanks for the weekend wrap.My concern though is Evans Kangwa,is he injured?seems his been constantly, while Mbola enjoys game time.Quick recovery for Chisamba,we need him for “Nairobi Job”.Its good bornell has found his scoring boots,it will boost his confidence.

  2. Lubambo should never at once be left out of our Chipolopolo squad.Him,Kalaba,Sunzu and few others form our team’s backbone.

      • Ba justice every coach has certain abilities he looks for in every page so let george pin page s the suit has way of play you always cry the kalusha interferes with team selection but nene you also interferring

        • You cant have all players in the country to play one game, his number is highly saturated and besides iits only 11 players needed and 3 subs that’s all

  3. I do not know how far true is it.. I heard that the list which was released by zamfoot was half backed and the team selection is still in process….

  4. faz has not issued n list on pros, let us get our facts right. So Zamfoot who told u, becoz faz only gav us names 4 local players

  5. The list released by Zamfoot is not official. Any time the list is out, FAZ does post on their website and facebook page. The list may be out this week. Therez no way Lubambo can be left out unless he ofended his boss Kalu. Strikers we need Lineker Mwikisa, Alex Ng’onga, Jacob Mulenga, Roger Kola, Walter Bwalya , Mbesuma and Winston Kalengo

  6. I’ve just read an article speaking to the calling up of Mbesuma to the national team. Lets not be so quick to want to vilify Zamfoot.

    • Lubambo’s absence though not a good thing is not a train smash. Lets not overhype our younger lads and get it into their heads that they are indispensable. They are the future and are definitely flying our flag high but to say him not getting called up would be failing the nation is a bit of a stretch. It will be very good for Zambia if he is there but it wont be a National disaster if he isn’t.

  7. FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA PRESS RELEASE

Chipolopolo coach George Lwandamina has called a total of thirteen foreign based players for next month’s Afcon 2017 qualifier against the “Harambe Stars of Kenya.
Association spokesman Nkweto Tembwe has also clarified that striker, Jacob Mulenga has been excised from this camp but will still be considered for future assignment.
“Jacob has telephoned the coach and asked that he be excused from this assignment” Tembwe told ‪#‎fazfootball‬ this morning.
Those called are Kennedy Mweene, Nathan Sinkala, Chisamba Lungu, Rainford Kalaba, Kabaso Chongo,Emmanuel Mbola, Stopilla Sunzu, Lubambo Musonda, Aaron Katebe, Collins Mbesuma, Evans Kanga, Kondwani Mtonga and Ronald Kampamba.
Meanwhile, only Jacob Ngulube of Mufulira Wanderers is absent from the local Chipolopolo camp that regrouped in Lusaka yesterday. Nkana striker, Walter Bwalya who was absent from camp last week, has reported and was part of the team in training at a Heroes Stadium in Lusaka this morning.

  8. So Zamfoot was correct all along and yet some people wanted to vilify them regarding the Mbesuma and Jacob call-ups

    • Indeed Steve. Instead of people appreciating what Zamfoot is doing, the rather attack them for no reason. Bloggers should also learn to bring out information. This is site is for sharing information and discussing football matters. If a blogger has data, share it instead of waiting for Zamfoot and attacking them even when they give us information.

  9. So Jacob requested to be released, I hope the reason is a solid one. FAZ should also not just accept withdrawals anyhow they should first check if the request has some merit to it.

The coach should also not get bright ideas of putting seasoned big game players like Chisamba on the bench this time around. This is a must win game, no 4-3-3 formation experiments, in the absence of Jacob and Singalume, Mbesuma should start with one of the youngsters upfront either Evans or Sate sate, a coin can be flipped on who to play between Kondwani and Sinkala in the hole (number6) though Kondwani is more consistent and you are assured of a solid game, Sinkala on the other hand can score goals. The wings belong to Lubambo and Kalaba and the centre will be for the ever creative Chisamba.

The long ball to Kalaba has not worked two games in a row now so no need to try it again. We are traditionally a pass and move team so lets drop the long ball idea.

I really cant wait to see the coaches starting eleven and formation for this game. A draw wont be good enough. This is a definite must win game.

  10. I would actually favour a twin striking force of Evans Kangwa and Mbesuma. Like you’ve rightly said, Steve, lubambo and Kalaba should be on the wings.
