Numba heaps praise on Zesco players after seventh straight win

Who can stop a moving train? Not even a Buffalo. Zesco united winning run continues as they became the first club in the 2020-2021 season to win 7 games in a row after beating Green Buffaloes football club 1-0.

Head coach Numba Mumamba had nothing but praise for his team following a hard-fought win at Sunset Stadium on Sunday in an early kick-off.

“Firstly, I must say am very excited about winning this game against Green Buffaloes as I said during training that it won’t be an easy game, Buffaloes gave us a resistance but it’s good that we dominated play from kick-off and that’s how we managed to get a goal. I think the team is doing very well, I give credit to the players for the application that there are doing-especially during the games that is what we expect from a team like ours we need to work hard so that we can continue picking maximum points,” Numba said.

“I think today we upped our game looking at where we are coming from when we played against Zanaco we did not play to the expectation of everyone we got the victory but today right from the kick-off we showed the character that is what has made the difference in today’s game,” he added.

Numba feels debutant David Molinga only needs to settle down together with Lazarus Phiri. Numba also gave an update on midfielder Donashano Malama.

“I think all they need is to settle down they played their part as they went in, we just have to continue encouraging everyone so that we can pick maximum points in the coming games,” he said.

“Donashano pulled a muscle that is why we had to take him off because he could not run so we just thought of telling him to come out so that he does, not strain himself,” he added.

Despite the good run ZESCO United is currently enjoying Numba Mumamba has insisted on his players staying focused at all times.

“For us, we should be consistent and continue working hard I think winning 7 games in a raw is not an easy thing but we shouldn’t go to sleep we are at a crucial stage of the league you relax you may end up dropping points so we have been talking to our team so that we can take each game differently with character and good attitude.”

John Bwalya Ching’andu scored the only goal of the game as ZESCO United edged Green Buffaloes 1-0 to make it seven wins in a row and maintain the top spot.
