Nkana make it four on the bounce as Kalampa power on in Week 18…Mufulira Wanderers edge Mines, Nchanga Rangers held

Nkana’s revival in the MTN Super League gathered further momentum on Friday as Kalampa recorded a fourth consecutive league victory, comfortably seeing off FC Leopards 2–0 at Chilata Stadium to underline their return to form.

Goals from either side of halftime from Jacob Ngulube and Oliver Lumbiya ensured Nkana continued their impressive run, extending a sequence that has now firmly lifted them away from the relegation conversation and into mid-table safety.

The win was another statement of intent from Kalampa, who have quietly become one of the form teams in the league.

Ngulube broke the deadlock three minutes before the break, reacting quickest inside the box to slot home from close range after sustained pressure from the hosts. Nkana remained in control after the interval and were rewarded late on when Lumbiya poked in from a Charles Zulu corner in the 88th minute to seal maximum points.

The victory moves Nkana up to 12th place on 22 points, leapfrogging NAPSA Stars, while FC Leopards’ struggles deepened as they remained second from bottom with just 12 points after another frustrating afternoon.

Elsewhere on Friday, nine-time champions Mufulira Wanderers edged bottom-placed Mines United 1–0 at Shinde Stadium. Paul Tembo proved the difference with a thunderous strike from outside the box in the 33rd minute, a goal that keeps Wanderers firmly in the top-five hunt.

The win lifted Mighty to fifth place on 28 points, ahead of Kabwe Warriors who are in action on Saturday, while Mines United stayed rooted to the foot of the table.

In the day’s other fixture, Nchanga Rangers and Mutondo Stars cancelled each other out in a goalless draw. Despite creating a few half-chances, neither side could find the breakthrough, with the result leaving Nchanga in third place and Mutondo Stars still hovering just above the relegation zone in 16th place.

Week 18 action in the MTN Super League continues on Saturday with four enticing fixtures. Green Buffaloes host Nkwazi in a tenant-versus-landlord affair, NAPSA Stars travel to Green Eagles in a clash that sees Perry Mutapa face his former employers, Kansanshi Dynamos visit Kabwe Warriors, while struggling FC MUZA make the trip to Sunset Stadium to face ZANACO FC.
