NAPSA Stars urged to win ABSA Cup by Board Chairman

NAPSA Stars Football Club Board Chairman, John Chundu has urged the players to fight hard and win the ABSA Cup.

Chundu admits that Red Arrows are the favorites but believes the Pensioners have what it takes to upset the Airmen.

He was also quick to congratulate the team for securing qualification to the Super League for the 2022/2023 campaign.

“First of all, allow me to congratulate each and every one at the club for this great achievement of qualifying the team back to the MTN Zambian Super League.

It has not been an easy ride playing in the Eden National Division One League and it feels great to get the team back to where it belongs.

I want to categorically thank the players, technical bench, management and my executive for the collective hard work put in to make this goal achievable.”

“Now that we have that weight off our shoulders, it is time for us to concentrate on bagging the ABSA Cup.

This weekend we face Red Arrows, a team that has been excellent in the Super League. And this is no doubt why they have won the 2021/22 the league title.

Allow me to congratulate Zambia Air Force-sponsored side for this great achievement.

However, this should not intimidate us as NAPSA Stars. We have also been great in our Division One league and reaching this far in the cup competition is no minor feat.

It is for this reason that I urge each and every one in the team to fight and get us the ABSA Cup this weekend as we face Arrows at Nkoloma Stadium.

The stadium set for us for this final will not favor us, but let us not dwell on that. It is a local derby and we need to show up.

We have been underdogs throughout this competition and we must continue to put in the extra work to continue shocking everyone.”

Chundu has asked the fans to turn up in Numbers to cheer on the team as they take on Red Arrows at Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday.

“My executive and I are super proud of the team for reaching this far and we are confident that the team will do even better in the final.

Allow me to also thank our Republican President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, who is also patron of our lovely game, for his gesture to grace this event.

The development has come with great motivation to NAPSA Stars and the football fraternity as a whole.

A special thanks also goes to our Sponsors NAPSA and Stanbic Bank Zambia for their unwavering support to the Club. It is because of them that the team has pushed this far both in the league and the ABSA Cup competition.

I also ask our beloved fans to show up in numbers to support our team as we try to rekindle our 2012 glory of lifting this cup.”

The Pensioners sealed their Super League promotion last Saturday following a 2-0 win away at Trident.

They now shift their attention to the only Cup Competition in the land.

The Pensioners will face off with new Super League Champions, Red Arrows in the final of the 2022 ABSA Cup on Saturday at Nkoloma Stadium with kick off set for 15:00 CAT.
