Zambia’s leading goalscorer at the 2017 COSAFA U20 championships Francisco Mwepu and midfielder Benson kolala have survived the axe by Assitant Coach Charles Bwale who has dropped 19 players from the squad in camp according to a list monitored by Zambianfootball.co.zm as posted on FAZfootball.com.
Mwepu scored Zambia’s only two goals at the tournament which was held in Kitwe last december while the Nchanga Rangers midfielder was among the best performers.
Prince Mumba, Lameck Banda, Clinton Lubula and Muma Mumba are also among those that have survived the chop from team that was eliminated in the group stages at COSAFA.
Zambia will join the race to Niger 2019 AFCON from the second round after being on bye in the first round. The defending champions will face the winner betweeen Kenya and Rwanda on the weekend of May 11-13 in the first leg with thr return leg set for Lusaka a week later.
