Chipolopolo Boys goalkeeper coach Kennedy Mweene says he is happy with what he has seen from the goalkeepers he worked with during the November FIFA International window.
Mweene however believes there is still a lot that can be done going forward and feels it will get even better as he continues to work with the goalkeepers.
Mweene says he is encouraged by what he saw with the goalkeepers he had in camp, Toaster Nsabata, Mangani Banda, Charles Kalumba and Francis Mwansa.Ā
āLook, I think the first time they contacted me, I didn’t even hesitate, you know, because, you know, I really wanted to contribute one way or the other to the national team, especially when it comes to goalkeeping. And for me, I think my first impression when we got to Camp even though I did not have enough time. I think I had two training sessions with the boys,ā he said.
āAnd I think from what I’ve seen, I’m okay. Yeah, I’m okay with it, with what I’ve seen. But we can do more. I think as days go by and as we meet again in camp, I think there’s a lot of aspects we need to work on as goalkeepers. So for me, I think it looks encouraging. And I’m happy with what I’ve seen with the keepers I was with here,ā he added.

Mweene was recently appointed as the Chipolopolo Boys goalkeeper coach as part of the Moses Sichone led technical bench to carry on post the Avram Grant era.
Mweene was Chipolopolo Boys first choice goalkeeper between 2004 and 2018 and made over 90 appearances and was also the man between the sticks when Zambia won its first and only Africa Cup of Nations crown.
