Zesco United left back Fackson Kapumbu has made the CAF Champions League best eleven for match day of the group stage.
Kapumbu is joined by TP Mazembe’s Nathan Sinkala as the only two Zambian’s who have made the cut. Sinkala is however joined team mate Ben Malango to make up two from DR Congo giants TP Mazembe.
Kapumbu was outstanding for Zesco United despite the draw while Nathan Sinkala even managed to get on the score sheet with a penalty for the Lubumbashi based side.
Zesco United were held to a one all draw by Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland while Mazembe made easy work of Algerian out-fit ES Setif.

Kabwe Warriors left fullback has the attributes required in that position for the national team…pure natural talent with good crosses. What’s his age Kabwe people?
Kapumbu being recognized by CAF, but locally he can’t even go to Cosafa.
Zesco players have been given reprieve due to the CAF competition commitments.
Well done to the lads. I always wonder why so many people have no faith in Fackson….for me he is good, he does make mistakes and get beaten for pace at times because he is not fast but all in all he has shown a certain level of consistency which is usually an issue for many Zambian players truth be told. Too many of our players blow hot and cold, consistency is jus not there.
I’m a little surprised Khama Billiat can make the list and yet the best player in the PSL, Percy Tau, is not there. Anyway I’m not privy to the criteria they use.
Nathan needs to be brought back into the national team.
Steve, Kapumbu’s weaknesses have shown in past international games. I think his distribution is not very good when he does have the ball and if you’ve watched the games, the left winger had to check back to him often. His lack of pace also makes him not very ambitious going forward. He needs to improve his decision making and his ball distribution, because guys like Joseph Musonda didn’t have pace either, but he played very mature football. Overall Kapumbu has tremendous potential, but he still needs some growth.
Fackson should start training daily and seriously on taking right sided set-pieces. He can easily start getting us those Kalusha goals we dearly miss these days.
In Zambia most excellent players are overlooked and our Coaches’ team selection especially for Chipolopolo gives me headache all the times! Most of our players technically are inept that is why they fail to thrive in Europe and other competitive leagues, for a player to be complete He/She must be technically well schooled.
I wonder, selection again for cosafa is questionable. Why don’t you try all the players mr chambeshi , chisamba lungu would have called him, fuckson, Brian mwila, silwimba and Isaac chansa .please let’s not have favorites this is a national duty.
@Kasama Boy. Good observation on Kapumbu taking set pieces. He needs to be encouraged at club and national level. Same with Rodrick Kabwe who defies the Law of Physics when he curls them balls round the wall. Wada always benched this boy. Sad!!
