Haalubono to take of three Nations as illness knocks out Nora Häuptle

Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club head coach Charles Haalubono will be in charge of the three nation tournament in Malawi in the absence of Coach Nora Elizabeth Häuptle.

Haalubono who is Häuptle’s assistant coach will lead the team because the Swiss gaffer has failed to travel after failing ill.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has assigned Copper Queens Assistant Coach Charles Halubono to be in charge of the team during the three-nation tournament in Malawi.”

FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande disclosed to FAZ Media that the Copper Queens gaffer could not travel to Lilongwe as she fell sick in her home country.

Machacha explained that Hauptle, who was scheduled to travel from her home country of Sweden, couldn’t make it because she felt sick.

“Coach Nora was supposed to link up with the Copper Queens contingent that had left Lusaka for Lilongwe yesterday, but she informed us that she felt under the weather, making her pull out of the 3-nations tournament,” Machacha said.

FAZ has since wished Coach Nora a quick recovery as the Copper Queens continue to prepare for the WAFCON.

The Copper Queens will face the Scorchers of Malawi tomorrow before finishing the tournament with a match against Zimbabwe on Tuesday.
