Frankie Musonda happy to be back in the Chipolopolo set up

Chipolopolo defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda is happy to be back with the Chipolopolo after missing a few matches due to injury.

The 26 year old  missed Zambia’s past four matches [October & November international break].

His return is a timely boost for the Chipolopolo ahead of the African Cup of Nations in January 2024 in Ivory Coast. Since making his debut in 2022, Musonda has already won 10 caps.

“Yeah I am really excited, It was really unfortunate to get injured in October and it carried on into November so I just missed out  but I have been back for about six ,seven weeks now and I feel good. Really excited to be back with the team,” he said.

“I think we will travel very fast. Just want to recover and work tactically with the manager and coaching staff. It should be good preparation as we heard to Ivory Coast for the tournament.”

Musonda says the team will be concentrating on the task at hand and trying to make the fans back home proud.

“It’s a very exciting group, there will be tough opponents, that’s why we all qualified for this stage, everyone is a good team and knows what they are doing. So each game will be tough and again each game we all think we can win so we just have to concentrate,” he said.

“We are all going to be working hard and concentrating on the task at hand. Am sure we will see your support from back home on social media and things like that, we just hope to make you proud,” he added.

The Chipolopolo will play its opening match of the AFCON on January 17 against Congo before facing Tanzania four days later while the final Group F match will be against the Atlas Lions on January 24.
