Frankie Musonda and AYR storm Championship playoffs after finishing second

Frankie Chisenga Musonda and his AYR teammates have qualified for the Scottish Cinch Championship Promotion Play-Offs following a dramatic night at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium in Inverness.

The Chipolopolo Boys defender’s side needed a win heading into week 36 to secure one of the two remaining slots in the promotion play-offs.

Super sub Mark McKenzie produced a last gasp moment of glory to send Ayr to the promised land of the playoffs.

The United Academy product stepped off the bench with United looking on the canvas after being hauled back to 1-1 and sitting in fifth place.

But he remained the coolest man in the Highlands to slot home a cutback from fellow sub Daire O’Connor and send Ayr through.

Frankie Musonda was required to clear off the line from sub Austin Samuels as the hosts flung bodies forward.

On a night of incredible drama, Ayr United finished second and go into the play-off semi-finals and will now await the winners of Queen’s Park against Partick Thistle.

Meanwhile Dundee clinched the Championship title in an incredible decider against Queen’s Park on night of high drama in the Scottish second tier.
