ABSA Cup cost Tenant Chembo his job as he is sacked by Forest Rangers

Zambian Super League side Forest Rangers have terminated the contract of head coach Tenant Chembo.

A statement released by the club obtained by the ZamFoot Crew also revealed that assistant coaches Dominic Changwe and Owen Kaposa will be in charge of the team in an interim role.

“Forest Rangers Football Club wishes to announce with immediate effect, the termination of the contract of Tenant Chembo as Head Coach.

Chembo who was first appointed as Assistant Coach on July 28, 2021, and elevated to Head Coach on the 1st September 2021, was given a target to qualify the club to the ABSA Cup as the first objective in the first half of the season, which was not achieved.

In addition, the club recorded a string of draws which put its set objectives for the season in jeopardy.”

Meanwhile, Francis Kasonde and Tom Kampamba will maintain their positions as Physical Trainer and Goalkeeper coach respectively.

Tenant Chembo was initially earmarked to be Perry Mutapa’s assistant. Mutapa joined Napsa and he turned down the chance to return to Ndola

Forest Rangers chairman Charles Kapoma has thanked Chembo for the services rendered during his period and has since wished him well in his future endeavors.

“We want to thank Coach Chembo for his time with us and we also want to wish the interim coach and his bench all the best,” Mr. Kapoma Said.

Forest Rangers are currently 9th on the 2021/2022 Zambia Super League table with 22 points from 19 games.

On Tuesday, Kansanshi Dynamos sacked former Forest Rangers coach Tenant Chilumba and his assistant Happy ‘Bauchi’ Sichikolo.

Chilumba and ‘Bauchi’ are already being linked with a return to Musa Kasonka Stadium.
