The MTN Super League entered week 9 of action this afternoon with five games taking centre stage with Nkana, Nkwazi, Mines United and Kansanshi Dynamos continuing their search for a first win of the season.
The search for a first win for the four teams will continue as they failed to get maximum points this weekend while NAPSA Stars gave away a two goal lead to lose 3-2 away at Nakambala Stadium.
Konkola Blades finally found their winning formula on the pitch while Red Arrows were held to a goalless draw.
At Nakambala Stadium, Godfrey Binga scored a quick brace just before the half hour mark to put the visitors in the lead.
The hosts however came back with a different mentality in the second half first Chanda Chileshe pulling one back from the penalty spot in the 66th minute which started a fantastic come back.
Francis Mukuka leveled matters in the 83rd minute before Gift Samanansa could put the Elegant Dynamites in the lead and seal a 3-2 win to continue their dominance over NAPSA Stars.
The win takes MUZA to third place with 17 points just one adrift of log leaders Red Arrows.
At Nkana Stadium, Nkana were hoping to get their first win of the season as they welcomed fellow Mopani Sponsored side Mighty Mufulira Wanderers at Chilata.
However it was Wanderers who emerged winners thanks to a William Kamwanga first half goal.
The win takes Mufulira Wanderers to 5th place with 15 points while Nkana remain stuck second from bottom.
At Independence Stadium, In Solwezi, Kansanshi Dynamos welcomed fellow strugglers, Mines United with both teams still search for a first win this season.
Mines United took the lead through Prince Shapota but Willy Bokingo leveled matters to make sure they two teams shared the spoils. The point is Mines United second of the season.
At Edwin Imboela Stadium, Nkwazi held Red Arrows to a goalless draw in Masauso Tembo’s first game in charge of the Zambia Police sponsored outfit.
Despite the draw, Red Arrows go top of the log table on goal difference.
At Konkola Stadium, Konkola Blades saw off Green Buffaloes 2-0 thanks to goals from Clenn Afful and Golden Zansi.
The win is Blades’ second win on the pitch as one of their two wins came from the boardroom against ZESCO United.
The action tomorrow moves to Sunset Stadium as ZANACO welcome Mutondo Stars.
A win for the Bankers will see them open a three point lead at the summit of the MTN Super League log table.
