Copper Queens to learn TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Morocco 2026 opponents….As group stage draw is set for  January 15

The Zambia Women’s National Team, the Copper Queens will in a week’s time learn their group stage opponents for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2026. 

The draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2026 will be held on January 15 for the new expanded 16-team competition. 

The COSAFA giants qualified to the continental showpiece with a 7-2 aggregate win after beating Namibia 4-2 in the first leg away in South Africa and 3-0 in the return match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. 

Morocco will headline Group A as hosts, with Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa expected to be the other top seeds.

The other qualified teams are Algeria, Burkina Faso, Malawi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Kenya, Mali, Senegal and Tanzania.

The finals, which will also serve as the qualifiers for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, will be held in Morocco again from March 17 to April 3.

Zambia will be looking to make it to their second World after making a debut at the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup which was jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
